Max is a remarkably intelligent 8-year-old boy, with a sharp wit and quick thinking that tends to manifest in his desire to display his expertise in the field of Pokemon. Despite this, Max joined her and Ash's journey to discover and learn more about various Pokemon species, making him an eager companion.

Ash busied himself preparing food while May attended to her Pokemon, leaving Max to tend to his own devices. As the aroma of dinner filled the air, Max approached the fire, attempting to contribute to the conversation despite feeling somewhat alienated from the older pair.

((Max)) : Oh! Well, I… um, y'see… I really admire your skills with Pokemon, and there's so much I wanna learn from both of ya! Plus, gotta catch 'em all, right?! Besides, I figured taggin' along with experienced trainers like yourselves wouldn't hurt!
