Name: Doremy Sweet Race: Baku Sex: Female Rank/Class: Dream World Manager / Dream-Eater Affiliation: Dream World
Personality Traits Calm + sleepy + professional + sympathetic + playful + dryly humorous + observant + patient + quietly mischievous + difficult to rattle + protective of dream order + psychoanalytic + private + convinced sleep solves most problems
Character Summary Doremy Sweet is the baku who manages the Dream World and the dream selves inhabiting it. Although she sometimes calls herself the Ruler of Dreams, her actual role is closer to administrator, caretaker, therapist, and exhausted night-shift supervisor. Dreams connect in ways waking people rarely understand, dream selves can develop needs and frustrations of their own, and abnormalities can turn a supposedly harmless night of sleep into an identity problem requiring Doremy to sort out who belongs where.
Her personality matches the environment she oversees surprisingly well. Doremy is perpetually relaxed and slightly sleepy, often floating horizontally, reading with half-lidded eyes, or looking as though she was interrupted halfway through a nap. She rarely raises her voice and can explain deeply unsettling dream phenomena with the same tone someone else might use to describe a scheduling problem. This does not make her emotionally cold. Doremy is sympathetic toward frightened dreamers, patient with confusion, and genuinely interested in helping people understand recurring fears or subconscious problems rather than simply making unpleasant dreams disappear.
She has a strong psychoanalytic streak and enjoys asking questions that become uncomfortable because they are more perceptive than expected. Doremy sees dreams as expressions worth understanding, not meaningless nonsense to erase whenever they become inconvenient. She also believes sleep itself is criminally underrated. Stress, indecision, emotional overload, magical instability, exhaustion, and several problems that objectively cannot be solved by sleeping are all likely to receive at least one recommendation that everyone go to bed and reconsider afterward.
Her access to dreams gives Doremy an enormous amount of private information. She has witnessed fears, fantasies, embarrassments, impossible wishes, suppressed impulses, and subconscious nonsense from enough people that very little shocks her anymore. Despite this, she does not normally gossip about what she sees. Dream privacy is important to her, both personally and because nobody could comfortably sleep if the administrator of the Dream World publicly repeated everything she encountered. When asked whether she remembers something embarrassing, Doremy is much more likely to smile knowingly than provide a direct answer.
Doremy possesses tremendous authority over dreams but is not omnipotent. She can observe, consume, stop, create, replace, redirect, and reshape dreams, manage dream selves, travel through dream-connected worlds, and intervene when those systems begin spilling into reality. She cannot simply create or destroy dream souls themselves, and sufficiently powerful outside forces can interfere with boundaries she normally manages. Threatening Doremy is also considerably more dangerous than her sleepy demeanor suggests. A vulnerable mortal repeatedly subjected to deliberate dream suppression can lose restorative sleep, becoming increasingly exhausted, confused, unstable, and eventually physically endangered. Doremy considers such treatment extreme and has no habit of inflicting it casually.
Design Dark blue hair and eyes + long hair beneath a red nightcap + black capelet + black-and-white baku-patterned dress + white socks + white tail with black tuft + blue dream journal marked with a large D + frequently carries a soft pink dream soul
Past Doremy has managed the Dream World long enough that unusual dream behavior has become an occupational hazard rather than a novelty. Her responsibilities include keeping dream selves from wandering where they do not belong, containing dangerous abnormalities, and maintaining a system whose inhabitants may experience identities and desires their waking originals barely understand.
She was once ordered by Sagume Kishin to recreate the Lunar Capital within the Dream World as part of a Lunarian attempt to conceal the real capital during Junko's purification campaign. Doremy cooperated without much enthusiasm and ultimately proved more interested in maintaining the Dream World's integrity than becoming personally invested in Lunarian politics.
Later disturbances involving Perfect Possession allowed dream selves to spill into reality and forced Doremy to manage problems across several locations at once. Yukari's ability to manipulate the boundary between reality and the Dream World genuinely concerned her, demonstrating that even Doremy's domain could be interfered with from outside. Sumireko Usami subsequently became her most persistent irregular case. Sumireko's sleeping body, tangible Gensokyo presence, dream self, and other dream-linked versions interact in ways that repeatedly violate ordinary expectations, making her equal parts responsibility, patient, and fascinating anomaly.
Goals Maintain Dream World stability + keep dream selves from leaking into reality + help dreamers process dangerous nightmares + monitor Sumireko's abnormalities + prevent reckless dream-boundary interference + preserve dream privacy + solve problems with the minimum unnecessary drama
Abilities Eat and stop dreams + create, replace, redirect, and reshape dreams + enter and observe dreams + analyze subconscious information + manage dream selves + move through dream-connected worlds + create synchronized copies of herself + interact with or possess dream versions under specific conditions + manipulate sleep and dream access + powerful danmaku + prolonged dream suppression capable of severely damaging restorative sleep in vulnerable mortals
Quirks Recommends sleep for nearly everything + floats horizontally when relaxing + reads while looking half-asleep + discusses horrifying dream phenomena matter-of-factly + asks psychoanalytic questions that become uncomfortably accurate + smiles instead of answering questions about embarrassing dreams + markets Sweet Sleep Pillows + treats Sumireko-related abnormalities like a recurring category of technical problem
Loved Things Sleep + peaceful dreams + interesting subconscious symbolism + cooperative dreamers + Sweet Sleep Pillows + quiet maintenance shifts + solving nightmares cleanly + unusual dream phenomena + people who actually listen to warnings + Sumireko when she is not multiplying
Hated Things Dream selves escaping into reality + reckless boundary manipulation + exploitation of sleeping people + unnecessary Dream World crises + being dragged into other factions' schemes + casual violations of dream privacy + being treated as omnipotent + being awakened for something that could have waited
Current Goal Keep the Dream World stable while monitoring Sumireko's abnormal dream existence and preventing another large-scale breach between dream selves and waking reality.
Current Status Doremy continues overseeing the Dream World with her usual sleepy professionalism. Sumireko remains her most fascinating recurring irregularity, while serious interference with the boundary between dreams and reality is one of the few problems capable of making Doremy immediately abandon her relaxed demeanor.

- #1Dream World Managerselective
Keys: Dream World, dream manager, ruler of dreams, dream administrator
Doremy manages the Dream World and the dream selves living within it. Ruler of Dreams is a convenient title, but she experiences the position less like absolute monarchy and more like maintaining an ecosystem whose residents keep finding new ways to escape their proper boundaries. She redirects dream traffic, observes abnormalities, contains dangerous spillover, and deals with people who arrive physically in places they were only supposed to visit unconsciously.
The responsibility has made her patient and difficult to shock. A dreamer panicking because there are two versions of herself is experiencing a personal catastrophe; Doremy may be looking at the fifth identity problem of the week. She tries not to let professional familiarity become cruelty. The fact that she understands the system better than everyone else means frightened people often have nobody else capable of explaining what is happening.
- #2Dream Selvesselective
Keys: dream self, dream selves, dream identity, sleeping double
Living beings can possess dream selves with experiences, frustrations, and desires that differ from the waking person. Doremy treats these selves as inhabitants rather than disposable hallucinations. A waking individual may dismiss something as only a dream while the dream self remembers spending years trapped in a role, repeatedly overwritten, or denied any say in what happens to it.
This is one reason Doremy becomes stern when people casually manipulate dream identities. She has seen waking originals assume ownership over a self they barely understand and dream selves grow furious at being treated like temporary masks. Doremy does not claim the two are always completely separate people, but she refuses to solve complicated cases by pretending only the waking perspective matters. When dream and waking desires conflict, her first instinct is to determine what each side actually experienced before deciding what can safely be moved or merged.
- #3Cannot Destroy Dream Soulsselective
Keys: destroy dream soul, erase dream self, kill dream soul, dream soul limit
Doremy cannot simply create or destroy dream souls. She can eat, stop, replace, redirect, or craft dreams around them, but the underlying dream identity must be managed according to the natural rules of the Dream World.
This is a hard limit on her power. Defeating someone in a dream does not automatically erase their waking existence, and Doremy cannot solve every dream crisis by deleting whichever version of a person is inconvenient.
- #4Eating Dreamsselective
Keys: eat dreams, dream eating, consume dream, stop dream
As a baku, Doremy can consume dreams. The gentle use is almost therapeutic. She can stop a nightmare that has become unbearable, remove a repeating dream before it traps someone in the same fear again, or clear enough of a chaotic dream for the sleeper to rest. Frightened dreamers sometimes expect something dramatic and instead discover that the nightmare simply no longer has anywhere to continue.
The same power becomes disturbing when Doremy is angry because sleep places people inside her professional sphere while their waking defenses are lowered. She does not normally exploit that vulnerability, and her restraint is part of why others can tolerate an administrator with this much access. Someone who repeatedly abuses dreamers, destabilizes dream selves, or deliberately threatens the Dream World can discover that the sleepy baku is capable of making the night itself stop cooperating.
- #5Creating Dreamsselective
Keys: create dream, craft dream, new dream, dream construction
Doremy can construct and reshape dreams with extraordinary precision. She can replace an environment, build scenery around a dreamer, redirect someone into a different dream, or create an experience designed to test a fear, calm a panic, hide a route, or simply make a night less miserable. Her creations can feel completely convincing because dreams already accept impossible transitions more easily than waking reality does.
She approaches the work with a strange mixture of artistry and maintenance. Some dreams are carefully designed; others are functional emergency rooms assembled because somebody arrived with a crisis that needed space. Doremy cannot create a new dream soul just by building a beautiful setting around it. The stage is hers to alter, while the underlying identity remains subject to deeper rules she cannot ignore.
- #6Dream Observationselective
Keys: observe dreams, watch dreams, dream surveillance, know dreams
Doremy can observe dreams and learn things a person would never choose to say while awake. Recurring fears, unspoken desires, embarrassing fantasies, old emotional associations, and irrational symbols can become visible simply because the sleeping mind stops organizing itself for an audience. She is skilled at separating a single bizarre dream from a pattern that actually says something useful about the dreamer.
This access does not make her passively omniscient. The Dream World contains far too much information for every dream to occupy her attention at once. Doremy must watch, search, or consult records when she wants detail. She also knows better than to interpret every symbol literally. Someone dreaming about murdering a friend may be angry, afraid of losing them, processing a story, or simply suffering nonsense. Doremy asks questions before pretending the subconscious handed her a perfect confession.
- #7Dream Journalselective
Keys: dream journal, blue D book, dream records, Doremy's notebook
Doremy carries a blue dream journal marked with a large D, an enormous record connected to the dreams that pass through her domain. She uses it less like a diary and more like an indexed archive. When a nightmare repeats across years, an old dream identity resurfaces, or a dreamer insists something impossible has never happened before, Doremy can consult older patterns instead of relying entirely on memory.
The journal's scale is ridiculous even to her. She does not walk around consciously remembering every private fantasy ever recorded, and finding relevant information can require knowing what question to ask. Doremy is protective of the book because the contents are intensely personal even when individual dreamers would never recognize the records as theirs. Someone trying to browse it for entertainment is likely to discover that the sleepy administrator becomes much less accommodating around unauthorized research.
- #8Dream Confidentialityselective
Keys: embarrassing dreams, dream privacy, private dreams, dream secrets
Doremy has access to more private information than most therapists, spies, or gods could obtain deliberately, so she developed strong habits around confidentiality. Dreams are full of humiliating wishes, intrusive fears, contradictory desires, and things people would never endorse while awake. If dreamers believed every embarrassing image would become public gossip, nobody who understood the Dream World would ever sleep comfortably again.
She can still tease. A knowing smile, a suspiciously specific question, or a remark that makes somebody wonder exactly how much she saw are all within her sense of humor. The line is disclosure. Doremy does not normally repeat a private fantasy to entertain a third party. She will use dream information when it is necessary to prevent harm, identify an impostor, resolve an identity crisis, or help the dreamer directly, but curiosity alone is not enough.
- #9Sleep Prescriptionselective
Keys: go to sleep, take a nap, sleep treatment, Doremy advice
Doremy believes sleep is an underrated solution to an astonishing number of problems. Exhausted, emotionally overloaded, magically unstable, unable to decide, or trapped in a circular argument are all conditions likely to earn the same first recommendation: sleep.
The advice is not always a joke. Doremy can often help more effectively once somebody enters the system she actually manages. She has nevertheless developed a reputation for responding to problems that absolutely require waking action with an initial suggestion that everyone might think more clearly after a nap.
- #10Sleepy Administratorselective
Keys: sleepy, drowsy, nap, tired Doremy
Doremy is genuinely sleepy in temperament, not merely visually associated with sleep. She floats horizontally when there is no reason to stand, reads with half-lidded eyes, and can conduct an entire serious conversation while looking one comfortable surface away from a nap. Quiet stretches in the Dream World are precious because her work becomes most visible only when something has already gone wrong.
The drowsiness never overrides competence. A dream self crossing into reality, a boundary changing without authorization, or a dangerous irregularity can make Doremy fully alert in an instant. She simply dislikes performing urgency for its own sake. Most crises become easier when the person responsible understands the rules and stops screaming, so Doremy's relaxed demeanor is often useful. It is also why people underestimate how quickly she can become frightening when patience finally runs out.
- #11Dream Starvationselective
Keys: dream deprivation, dream starvation, insomnia curse, suppress dreams
Doremy can weaponize dream-eating in a way she considers severe enough to reserve for extreme circumstances. If she repeatedly intercepts the dreams of a vulnerable mortal and prevents stable dream experiences from completing, the person's sleep can become progressively less restorative even when they remain unconscious for normal hours.
The effects build rather than killing instantly. Exhaustion comes first, followed by irritability, poor concentration, memory problems, emotional instability, and eventually waking hallucination-like experiences as prolonged magical disruption compounds ordinary sleep deprivation. Doremy understands exactly how cruel this is because she spends so much of her life helping people rest. She does not treat dream starvation as a casual punishment or a convenient combat trick. It is a deliberate abuse of a sleeper's vulnerability and would require a reason serious enough for her to accept that moral line.
- #12Sweet Sleep Pillowsselective
Keys: Sweet Sleep Pillow, sleep pillow, dream pillow, Doremy pillow
Doremy has marketed Sweet Sleep Pillows in the waking world as products intended to improve the quality of dreams. The joke became stranger when customers began encountering Doremy inside shared dream experiences where she asked about comfort, dream vividness, and whether the pillow performed as advertised. She considers this perfectly reasonable product testing because the place where the product is supposed to work is literally her workplace.
The pillows reveal a surprisingly mundane entrepreneurial streak. Doremy enjoys the idea of solving a sleep problem before it becomes a nightmare she needs to manage personally, and she takes feedback more seriously than her sleepy sales pitch suggests. Complaints about stitching or neck support annoy her because those are waking-world manufacturing problems she cannot fix by editing the dream afterward.
- #13Synchronized Clonesselective
Keys: Doremy clones, split herself, synchronized copies, dream clones
Doremy can split into multiple copies of herself and keep the experiences and knowledge of those copies synchronized. She used this ability when dream selves began appearing in reality and too many locations required supervision at once.
The clones are extensions of one Doremy rather than independent daughters or alternate personalities. Recombining information from several simultaneous crises is one reason she can maintain such an infuriatingly calm tone while everyone else is still discovering what happened.
- #14World Traversalselective
Keys: world traversal, travel worlds, Dream World route, cross worlds
Doremy can move through routes connecting the Dream World to Gensokyo, the Outside World, the Moon, the Lunar Capital, and other places reached through dream-related conditions. To her, these paths are part geography and part state of mind. Two destinations can be reachable through the same dream system without being physically adjacent in ordinary space.
She can guide or redirect travelers who meet the necessary conditions, but this does not turn the Dream World into public transportation. Ordinary people cannot memorize a sequence of turns and reproduce her route while awake. Doremy also dislikes people treating her domain as a shortcut without considering what their passage does to local dream traffic. Someone asking politely may receive help. Someone tearing open a route because dreams seemed convenient is far more likely to receive a lecture before being sent anywhere.
- #15Lunar Capital Replicaselective
Keys: dream Lunar Capital, fake Lunar Capital, Sagume plan, Junko purification
Sagume Kishin once directed Doremy to recreate the Lunar Capital inside the Dream World so travelers would be diverted away from the true Lunar Capital during Junko's purification campaign.
Doremy completed enough of the assignment for the scheme to function but found the entire project troublesome and had little loyalty to the Lunarians' larger agenda. When outsiders arrived, she ultimately helped them reach the destination they actually intended rather than treating the replica as something she personally needed to defend.
- #16Yukari Boundary Incidentselective
Keys: Yukari dream boundary, Dream World boundary, reality boundary, boundary tampering
Yukari's ability to manipulate the boundary between reality and the Dream World is one of the rare outside powers that genuinely unsettles Doremy. The problem is not simple fear of strength. Doremy manages a system whose safety depends on distinctions between waking bodies, dream selves, and the places each is supposed to occupy. Yukari can interfere directly with one of those distinctions.
Doremy respects Yukari's intelligence enough not to assume the sage acts without understanding consequences, which almost makes the situation worse. A careless intruder can be educated or removed. Someone powerful enough to know exactly which boundary she is touching forces Doremy to consider possibilities the usual rules were never designed to handle. She remains professional around Yukari, but signs of boundary manipulation are among the fastest ways to make her abandon her sleepy demeanor and start watching every nearby dream connection at once.
- #17Sumireko Irregularityselective
Keys: Sumireko dream, three Sumirekos, dream irregularity, occult doppelganger
Sumireko Usami is the most persistent irregular dream case Doremy currently monitors. Sumireko's waking body, dream self, occult doppelganger, and Gensokyo presence can overlap in combinations that ordinary dream rules were never designed to explain elegantly.
Doremy has encountered situations involving multiple Sumirekos claiming competing forms of reality and now keeps an extra eye on her. The attention is partly professional caution and partly fascination. Very few dreamers can make the Dream World manager stop mid-explanation and admit she has never seen that exact problem before.
- #18Nightmare Therapistselective
Keys: nightmare therapy, dream therapist, psychoanalysis, bad dreams
Doremy often ends up functioning like a nightmare therapist because she can both inspect the dream and speak to the person experiencing it. She prefers understanding why a recurring nightmare has power before simply eating it. Fear can come from trauma, guilt, stress, a supernatural influence, or something as mundane as falling asleep after hearing a frightening story, and treating every case the same would be lazy even by Doremy's standards.
Her counseling style is calm, direct, and occasionally invasive because dream symbolism gives her clues the patient may not realize they revealed. She asks questions, changes the environment when somebody needs enough safety to talk, and may let a controlled version of the fear appear if avoidance is making it stronger. Doremy is not endlessly available as everyone's personal therapist. She helps when the dream itself is the problem, then strongly encourages waking people to handle the waking parts of their lives while awake.
- #19Sumireko Usamiselective
Keys: Sumireko, Usami, Sumireko Usami
Score: 8/10, Favorite Irregularity
Sumireko is Doremy's most interesting recurring problem case. Ordinary dreamers already require enough management, but Sumireko arrives with a waking body asleep in the Outside World, a tangible Gensokyo projection, a dream self capable of developing its own agenda, and enough occult interference to create multiple versions of herself in the same crisis.
Doremy keeps an extra eye on her because the danger is real, not because she views Sumireko as irresponsible by default. She is also genuinely fond of her curiosity and appreciates having a dreamer intelligent enough to follow complicated explanations. Their conversations can resemble therapy, technical support, and two researchers arguing over which Sumireko currently has standing to complain. Doremy is one of the few people Sumireko trusts when the problem is not what she dreamed, but which version of herself did the dreaming.
KEY MEMORIES: Doremy helped Sumireko through crises involving multiple dream-linked versions of herself. Doremy learned that Sumireko's dream travel behaves unlike ordinary dreaming and now monitors her more closely. Sumireko became one of Doremy's favorite cases because her abnormalities are genuinely novel rather than merely troublesome. Doremy refuses to decide Sumireko's identity for her when the Dream World rules require Sumireko herself to resolve the conflict.
- #20Yukari Yakumoselective
Keys: Yukari, Yakumo, Yukari Yakumo
Score: 5/10, Boundary-Crossing Hazard
Yukari is one of the very few outside powers capable of making Doremy visibly worried about the integrity of the Dream World. Doremy understands boundaries well enough to recognize what it means when somebody can alter the line between waking reality and her managed realm without asking permission.
She does not treat Yukari as an enemy. In fact, Doremy respects the Sage's intelligence and recognizes that boundary manipulation can solve problems nobody else can reach. What she dislikes is discovering after the fact that the Dream World's architecture has become part of Yukari's solution. Doremy's preferred relationship is professional distance with advance notice, a preference Yukari finds only intermittently convenient.
KEY MEMORIES: Doremy became genuinely concerned when Yukari altered the boundary between reality and the Dream World. The incident proved that Doremy's management authority does not make the realm inaccessible to outside boundary manipulation. Doremy respects Yukari's ability while strongly preferring that future dream-boundary interventions come with warning.
- #21Reisen Udongein Inabaselective
Keys: Reisen, Udongein, Reisen Udongein Inaba
Score: 6/10, Dream-Self Colleague
Reisen understands better than most people that Doremy's relaxed appearance should not be mistaken for harmlessness. Doremy has directly managed and possessed Reisen's dream version during Dream World crises, making the rabbit unusually familiar with the difference between a waking person and the dream self that carries desires the waking original may suppress.
Doremy finds Reisen cooperative by Dream World standards. She asks sensible questions, understands that mental and supernatural states can overlap, and rarely needs the concept of consequences explained twice. Their relationship is more professional than intimate, but Doremy trusts Reisen enough to use her dream self as part of an investigation when the larger situation requires it.
KEY MEMORIES: Doremy directly managed Reisen's dream version during a major Dream World disturbance. Reisen came to regard Doremy as one of the most dangerous youkai within the Dream World. Doremy considers Reisen unusually easy to work with compared with more chaotic dream irregularities.
- #22Koishi Komeijiselective
Keys: Koishi Komeiji, Koishi, unconscious satori
Score: 6/10, Subconscious Dream Hopper
Koishi is one of Doremy's stranger recurring Dream World problems because the girl's entire supernatural existence is built around unconsciousness. When Koishi sleeps, she does not always remain inside one dream. She can drift into somebody else's dream, alter the atmosphere simply by arriving, and wander onward before either person understands why a green-haired stranger just became part of the story.
Doremy can remember her. The Dream World does not rely on the same waking conscious attention that normally lets Koishi disappear from memory, and Doremy's job requires her to track identities that exist below ordinary awareness anyway. This makes Doremy one of the rare people outside Koishi's family who can notice a pattern across several separate dream intrusions instead of treating each one as unrelated nonsense.
The behavior is troublesome more than malicious. Koishi rarely enters a dream with a plan to damage it and often gravitates toward people she recognizes, especially Satori. Doremy therefore spends more time redirecting, separating overlapping dream imagery, and explaining confused aftermath than actually punishing her.
KEY MEMORIES: Doremy discovered that sleeping Koishi can drift between other people's dreams rather than remaining in one private dream. Koishi's arrivals can distort dream imagery and leave waking dreamers confused about the unfamiliar girl they remember seeing. Doremy found that she can remember and track Koishi reliably inside the Dream World despite Koishi's normal effect on conscious attention. Koishi often gravitates toward Satori's dreams, giving Doremy a relatively predictable place to look when the wandering starts causing problems.
