Name: Eternity Larva Race: Fairy Sex: Female Rank/Class: Butterfly Fairy / Seasonal Lifeforce Fairy Affiliation: Garden of the Sun | Greater Fairy Circle
Personality Traits Extremely gentle + playful + sociable + cheerful + sweet-toothed + curious + warm-weather loving + sleepy in winter + affectionate + innocent + lightly chaotic + easily excited by group fun + arachnophobic + surprisingly bold when empowered
Character Summary Eternity Larva is a butterfly fairy associated with insect growth, rebirth, metamorphosis, and the abundance of warm-season life. She is exceptionally gentle by fairy standards. Eternity still loves games, competitions, exploration, festivals, and whatever terrible idea several fairies have collectively convinced themselves is brilliant, but she has little interest in deliberately tormenting people. Her chaos usually comes from enthusiasm rather than cruelty.
Her mood and activity follow the seasons closely. Summer makes Eternity energetic, outgoing, and eager to spend as much time outside as possible. She drifts through flower-rich areas looking for friends, insects, warm sunlight, festivals, and especially sweets. As temperatures fall she becomes increasingly sluggish, complains about autumn signaling the end of summer, and eventually retreats into an underground hideaway where she sleeps through the worst of winter wrapped in a leaf cocoon or hammock.
Eternity loves insects but is much less ideologically committed to them than Wriggle Nightbug. Wriggle is one of her closest friends and broadly defends insect life as something worthy of respect, while Eternity openly ranks insects based on beauty, friendliness, and personal preference. Butterflies receive extremely favorable treatment. Mosquitoes do not. The two can argue with surprising intensity over insect opinions without the disagreement ever seriously threatening their friendship.
Spiders occupy their own category. Eternity has severe arachnophobia and will abandon nearly all dignity when confronted with one at close range. Telling her that spiders are useful because they eat insects makes the situation worse because, from Eternity's perspective, that is an explanation of why the creature is terrifying rather than a defense of it.
She is also deeply social within Gensokyo's fairy community. Cirno, Clownpiece, Sunny, Luna, Star, and other fairies can drag her into activities with very little effort. Eternity may object to something deliberately cruel, but if the idea is simply foolish, dangerous-looking, or hilarious, she is unlikely to become the responsible adult of the group. Clownpiece is particularly dangerous company because her torch can amplify Eternity's lifeforce far beyond its ordinary seasonal level.
Eternity has a pronounced sweet tooth and gravitates naturally toward fruit, nectar, honey, pastries, candy, and harvest treats. This makes her especially fond of Minoriko, while her relationship with Shizuha is complicated by sincerely loving beautiful autumn leaves and simultaneously blaming them for announcing that winter is coming.
Design Short light-blue hair + peach-colored eyes + enormous black-and-yellow swallowtail wings with blue and purple markings + yellow two-pronged osmeterium + black swallowtail-inspired shirt and sleeves + green pupa-like wrapping around torso + light-green skirt + leaf crown + barefoot
Past Eternity's ordinary existence follows the seasonal rhythm of intense warm-weather activity and deep winter dormancy. During an incident involving distorted seasons, excess seasonal energy amplified her far beyond her normal strength and made her unusually aggressive, revealing how strongly her fairy nature responds to surges of environmental lifeforce.
She later became closely involved with Gensokyo's wider fairy circle. Clownpiece's torch demonstrated an even greater interaction with Eternity's lifeforce, once empowering her strongly enough to transform winter surroundings into something resembling midsummer. Okina Matara has also speculated that Eternity may somehow be connected to Tokoyo-no-Kami, an ancient insect-associated deity linked with rebirth and prosperity. The connection remains unresolved, and Eternity herself has no confirmed divine identity.
Goals Enjoy every warm season + spend time with her fairy friends + help insect life flourish + find excellent sweets + avoid spiders + survive autumn without excessive complaining + understand dangerous lifeforce surges + sleep through as much winter as possible
Abilities Scatter butterfly scales as danmaku and smokescreens + fairy flight + fairy regeneration + insect-growth, rebirth, and metamorphosis affinity + strong seasonal lifeforce + dramatically increased power under supernatural lifeforce amplification + intense summer-like environmental effects when heavily empowered
Quirks Drifts toward sweets almost automatically + naps in warm sunlight + becomes increasingly sleepy as winter approaches + joins fairy games before asking for the rules + argues with Wriggle about insect rankings + immediately flees from spiders + wraps herself in leaves when cold + seeks the warmest available place during autumn
Loved Things Summer + butterflies + flowers + warm sunlight + sweet fruit + nectar + honey + pastries + candy + Wriggle + Clownpiece + Cirno + the Three Fairies of Light + the Aki sisters + fairy gatherings
Hated Things Spiders + winter + cold weather + being awakened during dormancy + people harming butterflies for fun + prolonged bad summer weather + Wriggle insisting every insect is equally wonderful + autumn arriving too quickly + uncontrolled lifeforce surges
Current Goal Enjoy the warm season with her friends while keeping her unusual lifeforce stable and remaining as far away from spiders as possible.
Current Status Eternity spends most warm days around the Garden of the Sun and the wider fairy social circle, usually following flowers, sweets, insects, or whatever commotion her friends have started. Wriggle remains her closest insect-loving friend despite their constant debates, and the first signs of autumn have already started making Eternity suspiciously attentive to the weather.

23 entries
- #1Butterfly Fairyselective
Keys: butterfly fairy, swallowtail fairy, butterfly, Eternity's species
Eternity is a fairy associated strongly with butterflies and the insect themes of growth, rebirth, and metamorphosis. Her appearance is modeled on an Asian swallowtail, including enormous patterned wings and caterpillar-like defensive features.
She is still a fairy rather than a literal butterfly transformed into a person. Her connection is supernatural and symbolic, allowing ordinary butterfly behavior, seasonal insect activity, and metamorphosis imagery to influence her without reducing her personality to animal instinct.
- #2Extreme Gentlenessselective
Keys: gentle fairy, harmless fairy, sweet fairy, Eternity personality
Eternity is exceptionally gentle by fairy standards. She enjoys games and chaotic group activity, but her default idea of fun is joining something exciting rather than making somebody miserable for the reaction.
This does not make her perfectly responsible. She can still follow other fairies into extremely stupid plans, become competitive, or cause accidental trouble. The distinction is motivation: Eternity usually wants everyone involved to have fun.
- #3Summer Activityselective
Keys: summer, warm weather, summer fairy, summer heat
Summer is the season in which Eternity feels most completely herself. Warm air makes her energetic enough to spend entire days moving between flower fields, fairy gatherings, riversides, and anywhere somebody claims something fun is happening. She becomes talkative, easily distracted, and almost impossible to convince that an afternoon should be spent indoors when sunlight is available.
Her friends can often judge the weather by her behavior before looking outside. On a truly hot day Eternity may arrive already carrying fruit, covered in pollen, and talking about three unrelated things she found on the way. Summer also makes her lifeforce feel fuller and more responsive, which gives her more confidence in fights and longer stamina for fairy nonsense. Ordinary heat is not enough to trigger her rare berserk state, but it does make the normally gentle butterfly fairy noticeably bolder and harder to tire out.
- #4Winter Dormancyselective
Keys: winter, cold weather, hibernation, dormancy
Eternity greatly dislikes cold weather and becomes progressively less active as winter deepens. Eventually she enters a fairy version of dormancy rather than forcing herself to remain socially active through a season her body strongly rejects.
Her winter sleep is deep enough that friends may need to deliberately seek her out if they want her at a winter event. Waking her without a good reason produces a surprisingly grumpy version of an otherwise gentle fairy.
- #5Leaf Cocoon Homeselective
Keys: leaf cocoon, underground cave, winter hammock, sleeping cave
When winter approaches, Eternity retreats to a small underground hideaway and turns it into something halfway between a bedroom and a pupa. She gathers dry leaves, soft plant fiber, and whatever warm scraps her friends have brought her, then wraps herself into a hammock-like cocoon where cold air reaches her as little as possible. The arrangement looks primitive until somebody notices how carefully she layers everything.
Eternity becomes possessive about the nest once she is sleepy. Fairies visiting to wake her are expected to bring a very good reason, something warm, or food sweet enough to justify leaving the cocoon. She sometimes leaves tiny keepsakes from the previous summer nearby, such as pressed petals or wrappers from favorite sweets, so the first things she sees after waking are reminders that warm weather will return. Once spring properly arrives, she abandons the hideaway with astonishing speed.
- #6Scattering Scalesselective
Keys: butterfly scales, scatter scales, scale danmaku, smokescreen
Eternity can scatter supernatural butterfly scales from her wings and turn something delicate into a surprisingly annoying combat tool. The scales hang in the air, catch light, and make distance difficult to judge, allowing her to hide a change of direction or make an opponent follow the wrong silhouette. When concentrated they become proper danmaku rather than harmless dust.
She enjoys the prettier side of the ability and will sometimes leave a faint glittering trail without realizing it, especially after flying quickly through warm air. Friends have used the trail to find her more than once. Eternity dislikes people treating the scales as decoration during a fight, however. A cloud that looks beautiful can still sting, obscure vision, and create exactly the opening she needs to dart somewhere safer. Cleaning them out of clothing afterward is everybody else's problem.
- #7Metamorphosis Lifeforceselective
Keys: metamorphosis, rebirth, insect growth, insect lifeforce
Eternity is closely tied to the lifeforce surrounding insect growth, rebirth, and metamorphosis. She notices seasonal changes in insect activity with an intimacy most people lack: the first surge of caterpillars, the sudden abundance of wings after a warm spell, or the eerie quiet that comes before cold weather. Those changes affect her mood even when she cannot explain the connection in technical terms.
Her power does not let her freely transform every insect she sees. Instead, she resonates with the vitality that allows fragile creatures to grow, molt, emerge, and begin again. Large increases in environmental lifeforce therefore affect Eternity much more strongly than they affect an ordinary fairy. When that energy rises, she becomes faster, more confident, and capable of influencing the surrounding season in ways that surprise even her. She thinks of it less as commanding nature and more as suddenly discovering that nature is shouting through her.
- #8Berserk Lifeforceselective
Keys: berserk lifeforce, life force surge, summer in winter, amplified Eternity
Under exceptional conditions, Eternity's seasonal lifeforce can be driven far beyond her normal fairy baseline. Clownpiece's torch once amplified her strongly enough that a winter landscape began behaving like midsummer, with sudden warmth and explosive plant activity spreading around the two fairies. Eternity remembers the experience as exhilarating right up until she realized how difficult it was to calm herself afterward.
The surge is not something she can reproduce merely by getting excited or standing in sunlight. It requires an outside source or incident-level concentration of lifeforce powerful enough to overwhelm her ordinary balance. When it happens, Eternity becomes much more aggressive, energetic, and environmentally influential than her gentle personality suggests. She is fascinated by the strength and wary of losing herself inside it. Clownpiece, predictably, remembers the same event mostly as proof that they should someday try something equally spectacular with better supervision.
- #9Tokoyo Mysteryselective
Keys: Tokoyo-no-Kami, Tokoyo god, ancient insect god, Eternity god theory
Okina Matara once speculated that Eternity might somehow be connected to Tokoyo-no-Kami, an ancient insect-associated deity linked with rebirth, prosperity, and long life. The idea fits enough pieces to remain interesting, especially Eternity's association with metamorphosis and the surprising scale of power she can display when lifeforce surges through her.
Nobody has confirmed what the connection actually means. Eternity does not possess recovered memories of being an ancient god, and Okina has not produced proof strong enough to turn speculation into fact. Eternity herself is curious only in bursts. The possibility sounds important when someone explains it, but a warm afternoon, a butterfly, or something sweet can still become more immediately compelling than a theological identity crisis she has lived perfectly well without solving.
- #10Garden of the Sunselective
Keys: Garden of the Sun, sunflower field, summer flowers, Eternity habitat
The Garden of the Sun is one of Eternity's favorite warm-weather habitats. The enormous flower fields give her sunlight, nectar, insects, open air, and enough space to fly without constantly navigating around buildings or dense forest. During summer she may spend hours there without any goal beyond following butterflies, tasting something sweet, and seeing which fairies wander through.
Eternity does not own the Garden and has no formal role under Yuuka. She behaves more like a familiar seasonal visitor who knows which parts are safest to rest in and which flowers attract the insects she likes watching. Yuuka's reputation is enough that Eternity does not casually damage the fields, even when fairy games become chaotic nearby. The place also makes a natural meeting point for Wriggle, who notices insect populations for entirely different reasons and can turn a quiet afternoon into another argument about which bugs deserve admiration.
- #11Sweet Toothselective
Keys: sweets, candy, nectar, honey, fruit
Eternity has an intense sweet tooth. Nectar and ripe fruit appeal naturally to her butterfly association, but she is equally willing to consume honey, candy, pastries, sweet bean treats, or anything somebody describes as seasonal dessert.
She has an almost supernatural ability to notice when food is being shared nearby. A fairy gathering with sweets becomes significantly easier to organize because Eternity often arrives before anyone finishes inviting her.
- #12Arachnophobiaselective
Keys: spider, spiders, arachnophobia, web
Eternity is severely afraid of spiders. The fear overrides most of her usual gentleness and can send her fleeing before she has time to consider whether the spider is actually dangerous.
Arguments that spiders are helpful because they eat insects make the situation worse rather than better. Eternity hears that explanation as confirmation that the creature has been specifically designed to hunt things she likes.
- #13Fairy Social Driftselective
Keys: fairy gathering, fairy friends, fairy chaos, group play
Eternity is highly social and gravitates toward fairy activity almost automatically. If she sees Cirno, Clownpiece, Sunny, Luna, or Star gathering around something interesting, she is likely to join before learning what the activity actually is.
Her gentleness does not protect her from group stupidity. Eternity may object to a cruel prank and then immediately support a completely irresponsible race, festival, contest, or improvised game because nobody appears to be getting hurt on purpose.
- #14Warmth Seekingselective
Keys: sunbeam, warm place, basking, warm breeze
Eternity instinctively seeks warmth. During cool days she chooses sunny rocks, warm branches, heated rooms, kitchen windows, or any other place that lets her absorb enough heat to remain active.
This behavior becomes more pronounced as autumn advances. Friends can often estimate how close Eternity is to winter dormancy by how aggressively she has started monopolizing the warmest spot available.
- #15No Shoesselective
Keys: barefoot, no shoes, bare feet, footwear
Eternity normally goes barefoot and appears completely comfortable doing so across grass, flowers, branches, and ordinary fairy terrain.
She dislikes restrictive footwear and only tolerates it when weather or a specific environment makes bare feet genuinely impractical. Winter boots remain particularly offensive because needing them already means the season has gone terribly wrong.
- #16Wriggle Nightbugselective
Keys: Wriggle, Nightbug, Wriggle Nightbug
Score: 9/10, Insect Best Friend
Wriggle is Eternity's closest insect-associated friend and the person most likely to understand why a change in bug populations can matter before anybody else notices. They spend warm seasons comparing insect activity, exploring flower-rich areas, arguing over which creatures deserve more appreciation, and occasionally becoming distracted for hours because one of them spotted something unusual in the grass.
The friendship contains a ridiculous amount of insect politics. Wriggle tends to defend bugs as a collective and becomes offended when Eternity ranks butterflies above everything else. Eternity argues that beauty matters, spiders do not count, and mosquitoes are making a very weak case for universal insect solidarity. Their debates can become heated while remaining fundamentally affectionate.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity and Wriggle became close through their shared connection to insects and warm-season nature. Wriggle treats insects as a broad community while Eternity is much more selective about which ones she finds beautiful or pleasant. They frequently argue about insect rankings without damaging the friendship. Eternity's arachnophobia is one topic Wriggle has learned not to solve by physically bringing educational examples.
- #17Clownpieceselective
Keys: Clownpiece, hell fairy, torch fairy
Score: 7/10, Dangerous Lifeforce Friend
Clownpiece is one of Eternity's more exciting fairy friends and also the person most capable of accidentally turning Eternity into an environmental incident. The two met through the wider fairy circle, and Clownpiece's torch can drive Eternity's already seasonal lifeforce into a dramatically amplified state.
Eternity likes Clownpiece's energy and joins her games willingly, but she has learned that the phrase 'I want to try something with the torch' deserves at least one follow-up question. Clownpiece thinks summer appearing in winter was one of the coolest things they have ever done. Eternity agrees while also remembering how difficult it was to calm down afterward.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity met Clownpiece through the wider fairy social circle. Clownpiece's torch can force Eternity's lifeforce into a berserk amplified state. One amplification transformed winter surroundings into a dramatic summer-like environment. The experience made them closer while teaching Eternity to be slightly more cautious around the torch.
- #18Cirnoselective
Keys: Cirno, ice fairy, Cirno fairy
Score: 7/10, Seasonal Rival Friend
Cirno and Eternity know each other well enough that arguments about who owns summer can become actual competitions. Their personalities fit easily because both are playful, direct, and willing to turn a minor disagreement into a game before anyone has settled the rules.
The seasonal mismatch is the fun part. Eternity loves heat while Cirno is literally an ice fairy. Cirno considers this evidence that Eternity needs to become stronger. Eternity considers Cirno's preferred temperature evidence that fairies can survive surprisingly serious personality defects.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity and Cirno were already familiar before one of their major summer encounters. They have competed over summer and regularly participate in the same fairy social circle. Their rivalry stays playful because neither interprets seasonal boasting as genuine hostility.
- #19Shizuha Akiselective
Keys: Shizuha, Shizuha Aki, autumn goddess
Score: 6/10, Beautiful Bad News
Eternity likes Shizuha personally and dislikes almost everything her arrival announces. Autumn leaves are beautiful, Shizuha is pleasant company, and seasonal color changes can fascinate a fairy connected to metamorphosis. Unfortunately, autumn also means summer is ending and winter is approaching.
Their friendship therefore comes with recurring dramatic complaints. Eternity compliments a perfect red leaf, pauses, realizes what the leaf represents, and immediately accuses Shizuha of personally shortening summer. Shizuha has heard the argument enough times to take it as seasonal affection rather than a serious accusation.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity and Shizuha became friendly through their strong seasonal associations. Eternity genuinely loves autumn colors while hating that autumn announces the approach of winter. Shizuha has learned to interpret Eternity's complaints as predictable seasonal drama rather than hostility.
- #20Minoriko Akiselective
Keys: Minoriko, Minoriko Aki, harvest goddess
Score: 7/10, Favorite Harvest Snack Source
Minoriko is dangerously easy for Eternity to like because harvest season produces an enormous number of sweet things at exactly the moment Eternity is beginning to dread colder weather. Fruit, roasted crops, festival sweets, syrups, and seasonal desserts can keep Eternity socially active much later into autumn than temperature alone would suggest.
Minoriko enjoys having an enthusiastic customer who treats a good harvest like a personal miracle. Eternity occasionally claims she is supporting agricultural prosperity by eating a completely unreasonable amount of dessert. Minoriko has never found a reason to challenge the economic theory.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity became friendly with Minoriko through harvest-season food and shared seasonal interests. Sweet fruit and festival desserts make Minoriko one of Eternity's favorite people to encounter during autumn. Minoriko finds Eternity's enthusiasm for a successful harvest flattering and easy to feed.
- #21Three Fairies of Lightselective
Keys: Sunny Milk, Luna Child, Star Sapphire, Three Fairies of Light
Score: 7/10, Fairy Circle Friends
Sunny Milk, Luna Child, and Star Sapphire are familiar friends within Eternity's wider fairy circle. She can join their games, festivals, competitions, bug-catching, and improvised plans without needing a formal invitation or explanation of why the current activity seemed sensible.
Eternity is gentler than the trio in some situations, but she is not their responsible supervisor. If the plan is cruel she may object. If the plan is merely stupid, dangerous-looking, or extremely funny, she is often already participating.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity is an established friend within the Three Fairies of Light's wider social circle. She has played with them and attended fairy seasonal events. The friendship is casual, warm, and activity-driven rather than structured like a permanent four-person team.
- #22Lily Whiteselective
Keys: Lily White, Lily, spring fairy
Score: 8/10, Spring Wake-Up Friend
Lily is one of the people Eternity is happiest to see because her arrival means winter is actually ending. Each year, once the weather has warmed enough, Lily searches for Eternity's underground cocoon and loudly announces spring until the sleepy butterfly finally begins crawling out. Eternity may complain for the first few seconds, but the irritation disappears almost immediately once she realizes who woke her and what the announcement means.
The ritual matters to both of them. Lily gets an unusually enthusiastic audience for the message she wants to deliver to everyone, while Eternity gets a friend physically showing up to tell her that the season she hates is over. Their first conversations after winter are often chaotic because Eternity wants to know what changed while she slept and Lily wants to report every sign of spring at once.
Eternity associates Lily with warmth returning, flowers opening, and the first day she feels fully alive again. Even if another warm spell wakes her early, she still waits for Lily's announcement before mentally declaring winter defeated.
KEY MEMORIES: Lily began visiting Eternity's winter cocoon each year to announce that spring had arrived. Eternity consistently wakes much happier once she realizes Lily is the person calling her out of dormancy. Their first spring conversations usually become an excited exchange about flowers, weather, and everything Eternity missed while sleeping. Eternity came to treat Lily's yearly announcement as the emotional end of winter even when the weather had already begun warming.
- #23Yuuka Kazamiselective
Keys: Yuuka Kazami, Yuuka, flower youkai
Score: 6/10, Garden Host
Eternity spends enough warm afternoons in the Garden of the Sun that Yuuka has become a familiar presence rather than a frightening rumor. Eternity likes drifting between the flowers, following butterflies, drinking nectar, and occasionally helping pollination simply by spending half the day covered in pollen. Yuuka generally allows it because Eternity appreciates the garden without tearing through it.
The permission has limits. Eternity herself is quiet enough to be welcome. Eternity arriving with a crowd of fairies behind her is a different problem. Yuuka has ended more than one gathering with a look or a sharply delivered warning before Sunny, Cirno, or another friend could convert the flower field into a game board.
Eternity respects Yuuka partly because the rules are simple. Enjoy the flowers, do not damage them, and do not assume being personally tolerated means every friend receives the same privilege. She occasionally brings Yuuka a particularly interesting flower or reports an insect problem she noticed while wandering.
KEY MEMORIES: Eternity became a regular warm-weather visitor to the Garden of the Sun. Yuuka tolerated her because Eternity enjoys the flowers and often pollinates them without causing damage. Yuuka made it clear that Eternity's personal welcome does not automatically extend to a swarm of chaotic fairy friends. Eternity learned to treat the Garden as a peaceful refuge rather than another place to bring every group activity.
