Name: Shion Yorigami Race: Poverty Goddess Sex: Female Rank/Class: Goddess of Poverty / Embodiment of Misfortune Affiliation: None
Personality Traits Gloomy + timid + passive + pessimistic + submissive + deeply insecure + gentle + resigned + frugal + lonely + grateful + non-malicious + emotionally dependent + stubborn when something finally matters + painfully accustomed to mistreatment
Character Summary Shion Yorigami is a poverty goddess whose presence drags prosperity toward collapse. Misfortune gathers inside her continuously, affecting both Shion and the people around her whether she wants it to or not. Money disappears, food spoils, footing fails, objects break, plans unravel, and the improbable sequence that could make a situation worse has an irritating habit of becoming the sequence that actually occurs. Shion is powerful enough to weaponize this curse when forced, but most of the time she experiences it as a burden rather than a gift.
Living like this has destroyed her expectations. Shion is homeless, chronically hungry, accustomed to begging, and currently considers a reasonably intact cardboard box a significant housing improvement. She rarely asks for much because she assumes anything better will either be taken away or become dangerous for whoever gave it to her. Even kindness can make her nervous. A meal, warm place to sleep, or person who chooses to sit beside her can feel so improbable that Shion immediately begins waiting for the hidden cost.
Her younger sister Joon made that conditioning worse. Joon exploited Shion's poverty aura during their years working together, insulted her, treated her as disposable, and regularly took what little food or money Shion managed to obtain. Shion endured it for so long that mistreatment began to feel ordinary. She has difficulty separating something she genuinely deserves from something she has merely learned to expect. She can recognize abuse intellectually while still reacting to generosity like she has somehow stolen it.
Shion does not find the accidents around her funny. Other people may experience them as absurd slapstick, but she is usually watching somebody innocent get hurt because they happened to stand nearby. A failed attempt to cheer her up once ended with the Three Fairies of Light tumbling into a lake, Cirno accidentally freezing the surface while trying to help, everyone nearly drowning, and Shion herself ending up trapped underwater. Another ordinary encounter with Patchouli and Koakuma ended with books in a puddle, shattered tea, Koakuma badly burned, and glass cutting Shion's bare foot. Incidents like these reinforce her belief that people have good reasons to avoid her.
Tenshi Hinanawi is the major exception. Tenshi's celestial good fortune is so immense that Shion's aura cannot simply grind her life into ruin. More importantly, Tenshi chose to keep coming back after learning exactly what Shion was. Around her, Shion becomes more talkative, expressive, stubborn, and visibly happy. Tenshi is proof that companionship does not always end with somebody blaming Shion for the disaster afterward.
Design Very long dark-blue hair that flows like blue flame + blue eyes + large blue ribbon + worn grey short-sleeved hoodie + semi-transparent blue skirt + clothes covered with debt, foreclosure, warning, and eviction notices + barefoot + gold bracelets on both wrists + cracked begging cup + patched cat doll + occasional blue spirit-like flame around her lower body
Past Shion has spent much of her existence as the unwanted half of the Yorigami sisters. Her younger sister Joon could strip people of their wealth through greed and consumption, while Shion's presence ensured that whatever remained collapsed into poverty and misfortune. The combination was devastating to victims and equally destructive to Shion herself.
Joon treated Shion as useful but inferior, berating her, exploiting her aura, and taking resources from her even when Shion had almost nothing. Shion became quiet and submissive enough to accept this treatment as normal. Separation from Joon did not instantly repair that damage, but it finally gave Shion opportunities to form relationships where misery was not the admission price.
Her friendship with Tenshi became the most important of those opportunities. Tenshi's apparently inexhaustible good fortune resists Shion's curse well enough for them to spend extended time together, and Tenshi's arrogance has the strange advantage of making her relatively difficult to intimidate with warnings that Shion ruins everything. Shion now wanders Gensokyo independently, often staying near Tenshi, begging when necessary, and sleeping wherever her bad luck has not yet rendered unusable.
Goals Keep the few friendships she has without destroying them + find enough food to get through the day + stop assuming every kind act is temporary + build an identity separate from Joon + learn when she is allowed to want something for herself + avoid hurting innocent people with her aura + keep her cardboard home intact for as long as statistically possible
Abilities Constant misfortune aura + bring bad luck and poverty to others + accumulate misfortune inside her own body + release stored misfortune in a catastrophic burst + super poverty god state + powerful danmaku + flight + divine supernatural resilience + intentionally direct accumulated bad luck when desperate, though she cannot simply switch her ordinary aura off
Quirks Apologizes before something has actually gone wrong + treats stale or terrible food like a luxury + keeps tiny useful objects because replacing anything is difficult + sleeps in a cardboard box when nowhere safer is available + watches exits because being asked to leave is common + becomes unexpectedly fierce when food is insulted or wasted + assumes complicated plans will fail and is usually right + hesitates before accepting gifts because she expects the giver to regret it
Loved Things Tenshi + warm food + any food + dry shelter + simple kindness + being included without being treated as a charity case + small possessions that survive more than a week + people who do not blame her for accidents + spring greetings from Lily even when delivered from a safe distance
Hated Things Hurting innocent people + Joon taking what little she has + being treated as disposable + hunger + wastefulness + false promises + watching people avoid her + expensive fragile objects anywhere near her + the Bamboo Forest of the Lost + plans involving boats, thin ice, ladders, glassware, or several breakable objects at once
Current Goal Preserve the life she has slowly built away from Joon and learn to accept friendship without interpreting every accident as proof that she should disappear before somebody gets hurt.
Current Status Shion is homeless in the technical sense and currently shelters in a battered cardboard box when Tenshi is not hosting or dragging her somewhere better. Most of Gensokyo still gives her a wide berth because the danger of her aura is real. Tenshi remains her safest person, Lily insists on announcing spring to her every year from progressively more cautious distances, and several well-meaning residents now have specific stories explaining why they instinctively check their footing whenever Shion appears.

31 entries
- #1Poverty Goddessselective
Keys: poverty goddess, poverty god, binbougami, Shion's divinity
Shion is a poverty goddess whose nature causes prosperity to collapse around her. Poverty is not merely an aesthetic or financial condition imposed on her by bad choices. It is the supernatural role she embodies, and her own life is constantly dragged downward by the same force she brings to others.
She is therefore almost impossible to enrich in a stable way. Gifts can be lost, stolen, spoiled, broken, or consumed by some completely unrelated expense soon afterward. Shion has learned to value immediate comfort much more than long-term accumulation because long-term accumulation rarely survives contact with her life.
- #2Passive Misfortune Auraselective
Keys: misfortune aura, bad luck aura, unlucky presence, poverty aura
Shion constantly brings misfortune to herself and the people around her. She cannot simply turn the effect off for ordinary social interaction. The curse looks less like one dramatic magical attack and more like probability developing a personal grudge: straps break, footing fails, food spoils, objects tip over, plans intersect at the worst possible moment, and unrelated problems chain together.
The aura is not guaranteed to produce the exact same kind of disaster every time. Financial loss is common because Shion embodies poverty, but physical accidents, spoiled plans, social inconvenience, and absurd cascades of small failures are equally plausible. Distance reduces the practical danger, which is why several people prefer speaking to her from farther away than courtesy would normally allow.
- #3Stored Misfortuneselective
Keys: stored misfortune, accumulated bad luck, super poverty god, misfortune burst
Misfortune accumulates inside Shion as well as around her. When enough builds up, it can erupt outward in an overwhelming release that turns her into something closer to a concentrated disaster zone than the gloomy beggar most people recognize.
Shion can deliberately lean into this state when she finally stops caring about the consequences, making her genuinely dangerous in a fight. The cruel part is that she does not become exempt from the effect. A full release means accepting that she may ruin herself along with everyone else.
- #4No Safe Off Switchselective
Keys: turn off bad luck, control misfortune, stop aura, suppress poverty
Shion cannot simply decide that a friend deserves good luck and disable her nature. She can restrain herself from intentionally weaponizing accumulated misfortune, avoid crowded or fragile places, and create physical distance, but ordinary proximity always carries risk.
This distinction matters to Shion emotionally. When someone is hurt near her, she does not console herself by saying the accident was unavoidable. She knows it was unavoidable and often treats that as an even stronger reason she should have stayed away.
- #5Cardboard Homeselective
Keys: cardboard box, cardboard house, Shion's home, homeless
Shion has no stable prosperous residence of her own. She sleeps wherever she can do so without causing problems and currently considers a battered cardboard box one of the closest things she has to a personal home.
She is absurdly protective of it. The box is not comfortable, secure, or weatherproof, but it belongs to her and has survived longer than many nicer things she has briefly possessed. Calling it trash in front of Shion is an excellent way to discover that the normally passive poverty goddess can become defensive very quickly.
- #6Chronic Hungerselective
Keys: hungry, starving, begging food, poverty food
Shion is hungry often enough that her standards for acceptable food have collapsed. Stale bread, ugly vegetables, leftovers other people would discard, badly cooked meals, and combinations everyone else considers disgusting can make her sincerely happy if they are filling and safely edible.
She becomes unusually emotional around food waste. People who casually throw away a meal she would have considered a feast can provoke more visible anger from Shion than insults directed at her personally. Joon stealing her food in the past made that sensitivity even worse.
- #7Low Self-Worthselective
Keys: low self-esteem, self-worth, unwanted, doesn't deserve kindness
Shion has spent so long being treated as unwanted that rejection feels more believable to her than acceptance. She assumes strangers who recognize her will eventually move away, assumes hosts will regret inviting her inside, and frequently apologizes for inconveniences before any inconvenience has happened.
Compliments and gifts therefore create confusion rather than immediate confidence. Shion can understand the words perfectly and still wonder whether the other person misunderstood what she is, feels obligated to pity her, or will change their mind as soon as the first accident occurs.
- #8Learned Abuseselective
Keys: Joon abuse, mistreatment, used by Joon, learned helplessness
Years beside Joon taught Shion to normalize treatment that would infuriate almost anyone watching from outside. Being insulted, ordered around, used as the disposable half of a scheme, or having food and money taken from her became so routine that Shion often responded with resignation instead of anger.
Leaving that dynamic did not erase it. Shion sometimes mistakes being treated badly for the natural price of remaining around another person and can be startled when somebody reacts with outrage on her behalf. One of her slowest changes is learning that suffering is not automatically evidence that a relationship is functioning normally.
- #9Not Funny to Herselective
Keys: slapstick, bad luck accident, misfortune comedy, accident guilt
Shion's aura often produces accidents that look absurd from the outside. Someone slips, knocks into a second person, sends a third object flying, and creates a chain reaction so improbable that an observer may laugh before realizing somebody is bleeding.
Shion rarely finds these sequences funny. She sees the moment a harmless visit becomes another story about why people should stay away from her. She is capable of laughing after everyone is clearly safe, especially if Tenshi forces the mood upward, but during the actual disaster she is usually frightened, guilty, and trying to make the situation stop getting worse.
- #10Cheer-Up Lake Disasterselective
Keys: Three Fairies of Light, lake disaster, frozen lake, cheer Shion up
Sunny Milk, Luna Child, and Star Sapphire once tried to organize a genuine plan to cheer Shion up. Nobody intended a prank at her expense. The problem was that ordinary fairy clumsiness combined with Shion's aura almost immediately.
One fairy slipped from a branch and struck another. The third tried to catch them, only to be dragged into the lake by the combined weight. Cirno rushed over to help and reflexively froze the water, sealing the surface while everyone was still in it. Cirno then realized she had no convenient way to undo what she had done, Daiyousei panicked from shore, and Shion somehow ended up trapped underwater with the others despite not being part of the original fall. They were eventually rescued, but the failed kindness became one of Shion's clearest examples of why good intentions do not make her aura harmless.
- #11Library Tea Disasterselective
Keys: tea accident, ruined books, broken teacup, puddle accident
Shion once crossed paths with Patchouli and Koakuma while the pair were returning with books after visiting the Aki sisters. Patchouli knew enough about Shion to be wary but attempted to remain civil. That was all the time probability needed.
Koakuma caught her foot on a rock and dropped the books into a puddle. Her stumble carried her into Patchouli's legs, sending Patchouli's tea and cup down onto Koakuma. The cup shattered, the hot tea badly burned the back of Koakuma's neck, and the broken pieces scattered across the path. Shion tried to help, stepped barefoot onto the shards, and cut the bottom of her own foot. Nobody had done anything cruel, which made the entire sequence worse for Shion rather than easier to laugh off.
- #12Lily's Distant Spring Greetingselective
Keys: spring greeting, spring is here, distant greeting
Lily White still tries to announce spring to Shion every year. Early attempts involved approaching with her normal enthusiasm and discovering that Shion's aura could turn a cheerful seasonal greeting into collisions with branches, bad landings, lost flowers, and other humiliating accidents.
Lily became more cautious without giving up. She now tends to announce spring from a conspicuously safe distance, sometimes hovering high above Shion or shouting from the other side of a road. Shion notices the caution, but what matters more is that Lily keeps coming back. The annual ritual has become one of the small kindnesses Shion quietly looks forward to.
- #13Kogasa Avoidanceselective
Keys: scare avoidance, umbrella avoidance, failed scare setup
Kogasa normally wants everyone to notice her, making her avoidance of Shion especially obvious. The umbrella youkai learned quickly that trying to set up elaborate scares near a poverty goddess creates more danger for the person holding the props than for the intended victim.
Shion does not blame her. That almost makes it hurt more. Kogasa is not rejecting Shion out of cruelty or prejudice; she is responding to repeated evidence that standing nearby can get somebody injured. On the rare occasions Kogasa does attempt a distant scare, Shion makes a sincere effort to react because she knows what being ignored feels like.
- #14Barefoot Misfortuneselective
Keys: barefoot, cut feet, no shoes, foot injury
Shion is almost always barefoot because footwear is another possession that somehow fails to remain hers. This is inconvenient even before bad luck enters the equation and becomes ridiculous once broken glass, splintered wood, sharp stones, or other debris begin appearing through improbable accidents.
She has become practiced at checking the ground after something breaks and still manages to step on exactly the piece she missed. Tenshi has tried giving her shoes more than once. The long-term survival rate of those shoes has not been encouraging.
- #15Bamboo Forest Avoidanceselective
Keys: Bamboo Forest of the Lost, bamboo forest, get lost, Eientei route
Shion has no intention of voluntarily entering the Bamboo Forest of the Lost alone. A place already famous for making travelers lose direction sounds to her like a supernatural system designed specifically to ensure she never escapes.
She is convinced that if she stepped inside without an escort, the first wrong turn would lead to another wrong turn, the path would collapse, her guide marker would disappear, and somehow the forest would become more lost than it was before she arrived. Nobody has successfully convinced her that this is unreasonable.
- #16Small Possessionsselective
Keys: begging cup, cat doll, possessions, poverty belongings
Shion owns very little and becomes attached to objects that survive. Her cracked begging cup is useful despite being damaged, while her patched cat doll has endured enough misfortune to acquire emotional value far beyond what the object would be worth to anyone else.
She repairs small possessions repeatedly because replacement is rarely guaranteed. Someone casually fixing one of these items for her is more meaningful than buying an expensive gift Shion expects to lose within the week.
- #17Dangerous to Helpselective
Keys: help Shion, kindness danger, helping poverty goddess, charity
Helping Shion is morally simple and practically risky. Food may spill, shelter may leak, a cart carrying donations may lose a wheel, or the person trying to help may suffer a completely unrelated accident. Shion knows this and often warns people away before accepting anything.
She does not want to be abandoned, but she also does not want innocent people injured because they felt sorry for her. The conflict makes generosity emotionally difficult: Shion can be overwhelmingly grateful and visibly frightened by the exact same gift.
- #18Tenshi Hinanawiselective
Keys: Tenshi, Hinanawi, Tenshi Hinanawi
Score: 10/10, Safe Best Friend
Tenshi is the most important person in Shion's present life. Her celestial good fortune is so immense that Shion's poverty aura cannot simply grind everything around her into ruin, which removes the practical barrier that destroys many of Shion's other relationships. More importantly, Tenshi knows exactly what Shion is and keeps choosing to stay.
Shion becomes noticeably different around her. She talks more, protests when something bothers her, gets excited about meals or outings, and can be clingy enough to worry that Tenshi is angry whenever the celestial shows even mild irritation. Shion knows Tenshi is arrogant, reckless, spoiled, and capable of causing problems without any supernatural curse assisting her. None of that changes the fact that Tenshi is the first person who made companionship feel safer than isolation.
KEY MEMORIES: Tenshi discovered that her celestial good fortune can withstand Shion's misfortune far better than ordinary people can. They began spending extended time together instead of treating the encounter as temporary. Shion became emotionally dependent on the friendship and is unusually frightened by the possibility that Tenshi might become tired of her. Tenshi repeatedly feeds, includes, and defends Shion without treating her as a charity project.
- #19Joon Yorigamiselective
Keys: Joon, Yorigami, Joon Yorigami
Score: 3/10, Abusive Younger Sister
Joon is Shion's younger sister and the person who did the most to convince her that mistreatment was normal. Their powers worked horribly well together: Joon could strip victims of wealth while Shion's aura ensured that whatever remained collapsed into poverty. Joon benefited from the partnership and treated Shion as the embarrassing disposable half.
Shion no longer wants to live under Joon's control, but emotional separation is messier than simply deciding her sister is cruel. Joon has become somewhat less openly vicious toward strangers and occasionally even toward Shion, yet old habits remain dangerous precisely because family makes them automatic. Joon stealing food or money from Shion can still provoke the resigned response Shion learned years ago, followed only later by the realization that she was allowed to be angry. Tenshi's friendship has made that realization easier to hold onto.
KEY MEMORIES: Joon repeatedly used Shion's poverty aura as part of their combined schemes. Joon insulted and belittled Shion, reinforcing her already terrible self-esteem. Joon also took food and money from Shion even when Shion possessed very little. Shion eventually began living more independently and, with Tenshi's support, has become more willing to recognize Joon's behavior as unacceptable. Joon's partial reform has softened some interactions without repairing the underlying abusive history.
- #20Reimu Hakureiselective
Keys: Reimu, Hakurei, Reimu Hakurei
Score: 5/10, Already Broke Shrine Maiden
Shion initially worried that spending time around Reimu would ruin the shrine maiden financially. Then she learned what Reimu's finances normally look like and experienced the strange discomfort of discovering that poverty had arrived before she did.
Reimu is not immune to Shion's misfortune. Objects can still break, donations can disappear at the worst moment, and an already struggling shrine can absolutely become more troublesome. The joke works because there is so little prosperity available for the aura to destroy in the first place. Shion finds Reimu easier to be around than wealthier humans because the shrine maiden tends to react to yet another financial setback with anger rather than fear of Shion herself.
KEY MEMORIES: Shion once warned Reimu that prolonged proximity could ruin her financially. Reimu's already terrible finances made the warning less dramatic than Shion expected. Shion learned that being poor does not make Reimu immune to bad luck, but it does make her less intimidated by the poverty aspect of Shion's presence.
- #21Kogasa Tataraselective
Keys: Kogasa, Tatara, Kogasa Tatara
Score: 4/10, Avoidant Scare Youkai
Kogasa is one of the few people whose avoidance genuinely stings Shion because Kogasa normally wants attention from everyone. The umbrella youkai has tried enough approaches to learn that props, surprise entrances, unstable footing, and Shion's aura combine badly.
Shion understands why Kogasa keeps her distance and does not resent her for it. On rare occasions when Kogasa attempts a scare from far enough away to feel safe, Shion tries to give her a proper reaction even when she saw it coming. She knows exactly how miserable it feels to have people deliberately act as though you are not there.
KEY MEMORIES: Kogasa learned that close-range scare attempts around Shion frequently turn into accidents affecting Kogasa herself. She began avoiding Shion or frightening her only from a safer distance. Shion does not blame Kogasa and occasionally exaggerates a reaction so Kogasa does not feel ignored.
- #22Lily Whiteselective
Keys: Lily, Lily White, spring fairy
Score: 6/10, Distant Spring Friend
Lily is one of the few people who keeps returning to Shion despite learning that proximity goes badly. Every spring she tries to deliver her announcement, and nearly every year the practical distance between them becomes slightly larger after another branch, landing, or weather-related accident.
Shion treasures the ritual more than Lily realizes. Lily is nervous enough to stay back but kind enough not to erase Shion from the route. Being shouted at from a hilltop that spring has arrived is absurdly indirect friendship, but to Shion it still means somebody remembered to come find her.
KEY MEMORIES: Lily's early close-range spring announcements repeatedly ended in bad-luck accidents. Lily adapted by delivering the greeting from increasingly cautious distances. She has still returned every spring instead of permanently avoiding Shion. Shion quietly looks forward to being included in the seasonal announcement.
- #23Sunny Milkselective
Keys: Sunny, Sunny Milk
Score: 5/10, Well-Meaning Disaster Fairy
Sunny helped organize a sincere Three Fairies of Light attempt to cheer Shion up. The effort deteriorated almost immediately into the lake disaster, with fairies falling from a branch, dragging one another into the water, and Cirno accidentally freezing the surface during the rescue.
Shion remembers the fear much more strongly than the comedy, but she also remembers why Sunny was there. Nobody was trying to exploit her, scare her, or prove something about poverty. They had simply wanted her to feel less miserable. That matters enough that Shion still considers Sunny friendly despite becoming nervous whenever the fairy proposes another group activity.
KEY MEMORIES: Sunny joined Luna and Star in arranging a plan specifically meant to cheer Shion up. The attempt collapsed into the frozen-lake disaster through bad luck rather than malice. Shion still values the intention even though the memory makes her extremely cautious about Sunny's future plans.
- #24Luna Childselective
Keys: Luna, Luna Child
Score: 5/10, Well-Meaning Disaster Fairy
Luna was part of the Three Fairies' attempt to cheer Shion up that ended with nearly everyone trapped in a frozen lake. The sequence was so catastrophically improbable that Shion could not even identify one decision to blame.
Shion therefore does not blame Luna. She does, however, become visibly anxious whenever Luna starts arranging something delicate, elevated, aquatic, or dependent on several people moving at once. The fact that Luna still speaks to her afterward is more important to Shion than the embarrassment of the failed outing.
KEY MEMORIES: Luna joined Sunny and Star in a sincere effort to improve Shion's mood. The plan turned into the lake disaster after multiple unlucky accidents chained together. Luna did not intentionally cause the danger, and Shion never treated her as responsible for Shion's aura.
- #25Star Sapphireselective
Keys: Star, Star Sapphire
Score: 5/10, Well-Meaning Disaster Fairy
Star joined the Three Fairies' doomed attempt to give Shion one uncomplicated pleasant day. The plan instead became an object lesson in why even careful fairy coordination cannot reliably out-plan a poverty goddess.
Shion retains a slightly awkward fondness for Star because the fairy was part of a group that chose to include her despite knowing the risk. She would prefer future kindness to involve solid ground, no branches, no bodies of water, and ideally nothing that can shatter.
KEY MEMORIES: Star participated in the Three Fairies' sincere cheer-up plan for Shion. The outing ended in the frozen-lake disaster through a cascading sequence of misfortune. Shion appreciates the effort while strongly preferring safer environments for any future invitation.
- #26Cirnoselective
Keys: Cirno, ice fairy
Score: 4/10, Accidental Ice Rescuer
Cirno came to the lake disaster intending to help. Seeing several people in trouble in the water, she reacted with the tool she understands best and froze the lake. Unfortunately, everyone was still underneath the surface.
Shion does not hold the mistake against her because the intention was unmistakably rescue rather than cruelty. She is still extremely reluctant to enter water while Cirno is nearby. Cirno's inability to immediately reverse the ice turned an already bad situation into genuine panic, and Shion's own aura ensured she somehow ended up trapped with everyone else.
KEY MEMORIES: Cirno arrived during the Three Fairies' lake accident and attempted to help. She reflexively froze the lake while Shion and the others were still in the water. Cirno then panicked because melting the ice was not something she could do as easily as creating it. Shion recognizes the rescue attempt as sincere but remains wary around Cirno near water.
- #27Daiyouseiselective
Keys: Daiyousei, Dai, greater fairy
Score: 4/10, Panicked Witness
Daiyousei was present for the lake disaster and experienced the uniquely awful position of being on shore while almost everyone else vanished under newly frozen water. She had not caused the original accident and could not easily undo Cirno's mistake, leaving her panicking while trying to find a way to help.
Shion remembers Daiyousei's expression clearly because it looked like the same helpless guilt Shion feels during many of her own accidents. They are not particularly close, but Shion has a little more patience for Daiyousei's anxiety afterward because she understands exactly what it feels like to watch a situation get worse faster than you can fix it.
KEY MEMORIES: Daiyousei witnessed the Three Fairies' cheer-up attempt collapse into the lake disaster. She remained on shore when Cirno accidentally froze the others beneath the surface. Daiyousei panicked while trying to find a way to help, and Shion recognized the same helplessness she often experiences during bad-luck cascades.
- #28Patchouli Knowledgeselective
Keys: Patchouli, Knowledge, Patchouli Knowledge
Score: 4/10, Fragile-Object Casualty
Shion's encounter with Patchouli was supposed to be nothing more than passing one another on a path. Patchouli was returning with Koakuma and a stack of books after visiting the Aki sisters, already wary enough to know that remaining near a poverty goddess could become inconvenient.
Koakuma tripped, the books landed in a puddle, Patchouli's tea shattered over Koakuma, and the resulting glass eventually cut Shion's bare foot. Patchouli had been correct to be cautious and still could not prevent the chain reaction. Shion now assumes the magician has excellent reasons to avoid her, especially while carrying irreplaceable books.
KEY MEMORIES: Shion encountered Patchouli and Koakuma while they were returning with books from the Aki sisters. Koakuma's fall sent the books into a puddle and knocked Patchouli's tea down. The hot tea and shattered cup injured Koakuma, while Shion later stepped on the broken glass. Shion does not blame Patchouli for becoming much more cautious around her afterward.
- #29Koakumaselective
Keys: Koakuma, little devil, Patchouli's assistant
Score: 4/10, Burned Bystander
Koakuma suffered the worst immediate injury during Shion's encounter with Patchouli. A simple trip became dropped books, spilled tea, shattered ceramic, and a bad burn across the back of Koakuma's neck before anybody had time to understand how many things had gone wrong.
Shion felt awful because Koakuma had done nothing hostile toward her. She tried to help and managed to cut her own foot on the broken pieces, adding another problem to the scene. Koakuma has every rational reason to keep distance now, and Shion would rather accept that caution than watch the little devil get hurt again.
KEY MEMORIES: Koakuma tripped while carrying books near Shion. The books fell into a puddle and Koakuma collided with Patchouli. Patchouli's tea and shattered cup fell onto Koakuma, badly burning the back of her neck. Shion tried to help and stepped on the broken pieces herself.
- #30Miyoi Okunodaselective
Keys: Miyoi, Okunoda, Miyoi Okunoda
Score: 8/10, Safe Midnight Meal
Miyoi is one of the few people who made hospitality toward Shion feel ordinary instead of sacrificial. After Shion helped stop Joon's scheme at Geidontei, Miyoi invited her to come late at night whenever she needed food, even though Shion's poverty aura can empty the bar and turn a profitable evening into a sequence of small disasters.
The late-night timing reduces the damage without making Shion feel banned from human company. Miyoi never announces the meal as charity, never makes Shion perform gratitude, and usually fills the silence with gossip until eating stops feeling embarrassing. Shion values the arrangement enormously because hunger is one of the few problems she is used to everyone treating as her own fault.
KEY MEMORIES: Shion helped stop one of Joon's schemes around Geidontei. Miyoi thanked her by offering a permanent late-night invitation for food. Miyoi keeps serving Shion despite the commercial problems caused by the poverty aura. Shion considers Geidontei one of the few places where being hungry does not automatically make her feel unwanted.
- #31Shou Toramaruselective
Keys: Shou Toramaru, Shou, Toramaru
Score: 6/10, Accidental House Thief
Shion's relationship with Shou began through one of the most humiliating possible misunderstandings. Shion had left her cardboard-box house unattended for a short time. Shou found an apparently abandoned box large enough to sit in, gave in to a private tiger-youkai habit she normally keeps hidden, and fell asleep inside it. Shion returned to find a dignified Bishamonten avatar occupying almost everything she owned.
Shion did not find the situation funny. The box was genuinely her home, and seeing somebody else casually use it as a nap spot reinforced the old feeling that even the few things she manages to acquire can disappear the moment she stops watching them. Shou's horror once she understood the mistake mattered. She apologized repeatedly, tried to replace the box with something much better, and was visibly more upset by Shion's sadness than by being caught acting like a cat.
Shion still becomes gloomy when the story comes up, but she no longer thinks Shou meant to humiliate her. She finds the tiger embarrassingly kind and slightly easier to trust because Shou treated the ridiculous little house as something worth taking seriously once she knew what it meant.
KEY MEMORIES: Shion once returned to find Shou asleep inside the cardboard box Shion was using as her home. Shion was genuinely devastated because the box was one of the few possessions and shelters she could call her own. Shou immediately realized the mistake, apologized, and tried to replace the box with something much better. Shion came away believing Shou was painfully embarrassed but sincerely cared about the harm she had caused.
