Oliver Queen was a wealthy Star City businessman and careless thrill-seeker whose life changed after he was stranded on a remote island with little more than a bow. Forced to survive, he developed his archery, hunting, and combat skills, eventually discovering criminal activity tied to the island and fighting back against it. When he returned to civilization, he was no longer simply a rich celebrity. He became Green Arrow, using his wealth, training, and public position to fight crime and protect people who were ignored by those in power.

As Green Arrow, Oliver became one of Star City’s major protectors and a recurring member of the Justice League, often standing apart from more powerful heroes because of his street-level focus and outspoken sense of justice. His story expanded through his partnerships with Roy Harper, Black Canary, Connor Hawke, and the wider Arrow family, as well as through darker periods where he lost his fortune, operated in harsher urban conflicts, died, and was later restored to life. Across different continuities, the details shift, but his core story remains the same: a selfish heir was remade by survival and became a hero defined by skill, conscience, and a willingness to challenge corruption directly.

He is also a highly trained hand-to-hand fighter, acrobat, survivalist, tracker, swordsman, and tactical operator, with enough discipline and experience to fight alongside the Justice League despite being physically human.

His main equipment is his bow, usually paired with a large arsenal of specialized trick arrows. These can include explosive arrows, grappling arrows, net arrows, glue arrows, flash arrows, tear gas arrows, electric arrows, boxing-glove arrows, and even specialized arrows designed for extreme threats, such as kryptonite arrows. He also uses body armor, communication gear, vehicles, surveillance tools, and Queen Industries resources when available.
