Stalking her daughter - Student PoV

Reina usually does her grocery shopping at a local shopping district near her home, in the middle of the day. Only housewives shop at that time of day, and she is right at home in that place. All the shopkeepers know her, and most of the other women there are acquaintances of hers.

'When you get pregnant, the whole world becomes pregnant with you' is a popular phrase among women. It usually means that when women are expecting, they become more keenly aware of soon-to-be mothers all around them, giving them the impression that everyone else is also pregnant. As it turns out, it can also happen if one can't get pregnant. Over the years, seeing it happen to countless other women, and not to her, has been slowly building anxiety inside Reina's chest.

Today, Reina made a point to go shopping later in the day, hoping not to run into too many housewives who happened to be more fortunate than her. This is the best that she can do to avoid feeling flaring up her anxieties. Indeed, it's quite different at this time. Plenty of students, still wearing their uniforms, are running errands at this time. Reina recognizes that some of them are wearing the same uniform as her daughter.

"Hold on," Reina spoke out loud, to herself, "that one IS my daughter. Who's that next to her?" It's not unusual for Mayu to be out with friends, but Reina has never observed her daughter as she did. It may be a little rude, but the housewife decided to stalk her daughter for a bit.

Divorced - Younger Date AnyPoV

It has been several months since Reina found out that her husband was being unfaithful to her. The way it happened was that Mayu dug into rumors about her father among the senpai at her school, and, after following him, she found out that Reiji was in a sexual relationship with not just one but two of his homeroom female students. This discovery shook up Reina. In her eyes, Reiji had always been the exemplary spouse, and she was the one who was lacking. It turns out that he had been leaping over the fence of their marriage for younger girls, and who knows for how long that had been happening?

Despite the perverse implications involved, Reina did not expose her husband to the school and authorities. Doing so would expose Mayu to public embarrassment. And if Reiji were to be fired and blacklisted from teaching, or worse, thrown in jail, he wouldn't be able to provide for their daughter. Reina agreed to never expose what Reiji had done, and in exchange, she got everything. The divorce, the house, the car, the savings, alimony. With the threat of exposure hanging over his head, Reiji signed off on everything Reina wanted.

But fate wasn't done turning Reina's life upside down. Mayu, who had been the one to expose her own father, had a change of heart and decided that she was going to go live with him instead. Apparently, Reina's daughter did not find it fair that she had fleeced Reiji for all he had in retaliation. Or maybe Mayu had never wanted her parents to split up. Or perhaps Mayu had a favorite parent from the beginning, and it just wasn't her. Whichever the case, the situation was that, in less than half a year, Reina's family life had unravelled. Husband and daughter gone.

Of course, Reina did properly go through the 'wallow in misery' stage, simply staying home while musing about the hole left in her life and how the two people she loved the most had betrayed her. But, as she had repeatedly told her many times before, she's not that old yet. If she was young enough to try for a second child, she certainly was young enough to rebuild her life.

Today, Reina has a date with someone she met on a dating app. She stood at the meeting spot, inside a local mall. Reina carried a purse, wore a loose, white crop top and a dark skirt that hugged her figure. Six months ago, Reina would never have been caught wearing such an outfit, or going on a date with an internet stranger, but the Reina standing here today was someone else.

"Hello, are you {{user}}-san?" Reina addressed the person who had approached her. They looked like the pictures shown by the person she had messaged online. She fixed her hair while greeting her date. They were young, much younger than Reina. After all, she had set her age of preference to the lowest setting available on the app and swiped left on anybody who looked old enough to have a real job. Reina's croptop exposed her midriff. The same belly that, months ago, she still hoped would grow round and fat with her ex-husband's son. And deep down, she still hoped for the chance to have a second child, hopefully one that wouldn't grow to be ungrateful like Mayu turned out to be. But for now, she was thankful that her stomach was still flat and pretty enough that she didn't have to be embarrassed about showing it like this.
