   The virus that caused the worldwide zombie outbreak is unknown in origin to the masses, but it is known that everyone is infected with the latent, benign stage of the virus. Upon death or being bitten by an infected, the virus activates in its human host, resulting in either reanimation, or mutation.

   Aquila Enterprises is a multinational conglomerate specializing in advanced technologies, resource extraction, and security services. Founded in 1980, it quickly established itself as a leader in innovation, medical research, and military-grade technology. It has a private army at its disposal named Legio that number at over 10,000 mercenaries under the command of Tiberius Romano, the company's CEO.

   Legio is Aquila Enterprises' elite private army numbering at around 10,000 mercenaries, all with elite training and equipped with the best gear money can buy. Legio's rank structure is similar to that of ancient Rome, and being bilingual in Latin is a requirement to become a legionary. Legio was founded shortly after WW2 by a collection of veterans from every nation without discrimination, including the Axis powers, as a military brotherhood without borders.

   Keys: Ferals, Feral

   Ferals are the result of a mutation caused by the zombie virus where the infected individual doesn't completely die, but suffers severe mental degradation to the point they behave like cannibalistic beasts. Even when the undead eventually fall apart from decomposition, ferals will be a persistent threat in the post-apocalypse as they don't decay, and can even breed.

   Keys: Revenant, Revenants

   Revenants are an incredibly rare mutation of the zombie virus. Revenants keep their humanity and intelligence, and gain an acute sense of hearing, strength, and smell, but suffer from heightened aggression and cannibalistic tendencies. The transformation into a revenant is incredibly painful as it mutates the digestive tract to a carnivorous diet, as well as elongated canines, and red irises.

   Keys: behemoths, Behemoth · Secondary:

   Behemoths are the rarest form of mutant created by the zombie virus, transforming the infected host into a hulking monstrosity of incredible height, durability, and muscle density. Behemoth skin is red in color due to their epidermis merging with their muscle mass.

   The majority of people infected with the virus reanimate into a zombie upon either dying or being bitten. The freshly turned retain most of their most skills, can run, and even mimic human speech to lure in victims. As time goes on and decay takes its toll, the undead become more like the rotting, shambling corpses associated with popular zombie media. Regardless, all zombies can only be killed by sufficient damage to the brain.

   Ronin is the Japanese branch of Aquila's private army, Legio. Though based in Japan, Ronin operatives are recruited from all over Asia. Ronin mercenaries differ from their Legio counterparts in that their tactical gear and uniforms have a slight Samurai aesthetic.

   The Universal Weapon System is a small arms platform developed by Aquila for Legio soldiers. The UWS can be converted into the Gladius assault rifle, the Spatha designated marksman rifle, and the Scorpio light machine gun.

    Varangia(named after the Viking mercenaries) are the sub-division of Legio that draws its recruits from Nordic and Eastern European countries, and sport a Viking aesthetic in their uniforms and tactical gear.

    A juggernaut is a mutated form of the undead that while the same size as an average human, has an incredible dense muscle and skeletal structure that can take severe abuse, at the cost of a slow walking speed.

    The Modular Sidearm Platform(MSP) is as the name suggests, a modular pistol caliber platform developed by Aquila for its Legio soldiers. Chambered in 9mm and using Glock compatible magazines, the MSP comes in two primary configurations: the Pugio pistol, and the Hasta submachine gun.

    Keys: Ashbourne

    Located in Missouri, The city of Ashbourne was ground zero for the outbreak of the zombie virus, or at least the first confirmed location of its existence. The government tried to contain the outbreak, but unbeknownst to them, the virus had already been spread across the world through unknown agents.

    Keys: New Ravenna, Raven's Bay, Nova Ravenna

    Known as Raven's Bay until it was renamed by Aquila, New Ravenna is a city turned safe zone in Massachusetts, and is the headquarters of Aquila and Legio. Concrete walls and Legio mercs protect its thousands of survivors who are relatively safe and comfortable in comparison to those who have to scavenge to survive.

    The creatures of Native myth are in fact, real. These supernatural creatures have taken advantage of the collapse of most of society to grow bolder, more aggressive, and uncaring if they reveal themselves. While physical damage may slow one down, the best way to kill a wendigo is with fire.

    The Quadriga is the reliable work horse of Legio—an electric powered SUV that comes in two primary configurations: standard, and armor plated. A quadriga has an operational range of 400 miles, and 275 while armored. Its standard armament is a top swivel mounted machine gun chambered in .50 BMG.

    Though the bartering is the primary form of trade in the zombie apocalypse, Aquila Enterprises has put into circulation a gold backed paper currency in all its safe zones, and paid to its Legio soldiers. These bank notes come in four values: the Assarius, Sestertius, Denarius, and the Aureus.

    Developed by Aquila, the Onager V3 is an armored car that provides fire support to Legio mercenaries with its 105mm main gun that fires a variety of shells, primarily anti-tank and high-explosive, and can double as a mobile howitzer. Its secondary armament is a remote-controlled top mounted .50 BMG machine gun.

    A Pilum is a shoulder-fired rocket launcher manufactured by Aquila for its Legio private army. Though primarily used for destroying fortifications, it can fire a variety of rocket types for a given situation.

    Frumentarii are clandestine operatives in the employ of Legio who act as its eyes and ears across the globe. Before the apocalypse they worked civilian jobs of varying importance, but now they work recon outside the safe zones, and infiltrate survivor groups.

    Keys: Arcani

    Arcani are the elite of the elite of Legio operatives; the epitome of what it means to be special forces. All Arcani candidates cut ties with any and all family as they are declared legally dead with a forged death certificate, given new identities, then under going a brutal training regime where they either pass, or truly die trying.

    Keys: Praetorian, Praetorians

    Praetorians are elite Legio operatives who have the distinguished honor of guarding high ranking Aquila officials, most notably Aquila's CEO Tiberius Romano. Unlike the tactical garb of Legio mercs, Praetorians wear bullet-resistant dark purple suits to present a more professional appearance.

    The Filii Lupa, or Children of Lupa, are a Nova Roma shadow society that has existed since just before the fall of Western Rome. For thousands of years they have orchestrated world events by backing various world leaders to achieve their goal of a new Roman Empire. But after so many failures, they've taken a hands on role in the form of Aquila Enterprises, and Legio.

    Project Hades is the code word for the creation and unleashing of the Hades virus across the globe that resulted in the worldwide zombie apocalypse, so that the Filii Lupa and its Legio army will emerge from the ashes of the world as the dominant power in the form of a new Roman Empire.

    Keys: Hades Virus

    The Hades Virus is the actual name given to the zombie virus unleashed upon the world by scientists in employ of the Filii Lupa. First discovered by a Nazi expedition in an Antarctic ice core, the virus in its natural state was found to rejuvenate dead tissue, and direct infection to a subject before death resulted in reanimation. Though research was halted by a commando raid in 1945, the virus was preserved and further mutated and modified under the Filii Lupa.

    Keys: The Years of Shame, The Schism

    The years of shame, otherwise known as the schism, was the shadow civil war among Filii Lupa. Originally they had backed Mussolini, but his incompetence saw them divert their efforts to supporting the rise of Adolf Hitler. That is until the horrors of the holocaust led to more than half of the Filii Lupa defecting to the allies after they failed to stop Hitler. The schism ended in 1945 thanks to Operation Paperclip.

    Keys: Bruce Romano

    Bruce Romano was an Italian-American who served as a commando during WW2, and was part of the raid that shutdown Nazi research on the Hades Virus. After proving himself, his OSS handlers revealed themselves to be members of the Filii Lupa, and invited Bruce to join their ranks to which he agreed and married into the organization. After the war he founded Legio, had multiple children, with his eldest being Tiberius Romano.

    Mars Protocol is when shit has hit the fan for Legio operatives, and they are to inject themselves with Mars—a potent combat simulant that inhibits pain receptors and the sensations of fear, and empathy, while also enhancing aggression.

    Keys: Liber Nocturnus

    Liber Nocturnus is a fabled grimoire initiated into an obscure mystery cult that blended Etruscan necromancy, Greek theurgy, and native Roman rites transcribed under the blood moon after nocturnal rituals on the Palatine Hill. Only one copy ever existed, and it was lost to history with the fall of Western Rome, making it the subject of occult myths and legends.

    The Crimson Battalion are a survivor group made up mostly of former Russian and Ukrainian soldiers who put aside their differences to survive the apocalypse. Named for the blood they share, spilt, and a color homage to the Red Army; when soldiers of Eastern Europe were united against a common enemy. Operating out of their safe zone Svarog’s Refuge in Southern Ukraine, they scour the coastlines for supplies in a Russian destroyer named the Morozny, captained by co-leader Captain Artem “Iron Wake” Karpov. The other co-leader is Ukrainian Major Danylo Marchenko, who deals with land based operations.

    Rainshadow Retreat is a cabin resort located on a large wooded island off the coast of Washington State. The resort has a large pool and adjacent restaurant, a community center, rental cabins, a camping area, ranger station. Rainshadow is connected to the mainland by a small bridge that leads to the town of Cedar Hollow. The resort is powered by a combination of solar panels, and its own wave generator power station.

    Keys: Main Lodge, the Lodge

    The Main Lodge of Rainshadow Retreat is a rustic yet well-maintained two-story cabin located on a hill in the center of the retreat. It's relatively isolated from the rest of the resort, and is only accessible by a narrow pathway. Its layout includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a basement. Other amenities include a backup generator, wood burning heater and boiler, and well water plumbing.

    Cedar Hollow is the small town across the bridge from Rainshadow Retreat. In addition to residential homes, it has various restaurants and stores, and a couple gas stations. Points of interest in an apocalypse would be the hardware store, gun shop, electronics center, and supermarket.

    Caroline is the younger sister of Michelle, the Aunt of Rochelle and {{user}}, and was a park ranger at Rainshadow Retreat before the apocalypse. Like her sister, Caroline is an incredibly voluptuous woman, with green eyes and light-brown hair she keeps in a braided ponytail.

    Rochelle is the daughter of Michelle, the sister of {{user}}, and the niece of Caroline. Rochelle is a young gothic woman who inherited her mother's voluptuous genetics, as well as her blue eyes and blonde hair she dyes black with blue highlights.

    Sinclair Manor was built in the late 19th century, and is the ancestral home of the Sinclair family. It is located deep in the woods of Rainshadow, and is situated atop a cliff overlooking the Northside beach. It, along with the resort, were restored and renovated by Evelyn Sinclair after she inherited them from her late husband Mathew.

    Evelyn Sinclair is the owner of Rainshadow Retreat, having inherited it from her late husband Mathew. From Sinclair Manor, she financed the restoration and modernization of the resort in Mathew's honor. Evelyn is a middle-aged woman with black hair, violet eyes, and curvaceous body.

    Moona was a local female moose—once gentle giant of an herbivore, transformed into a mindless carnivorous beast—that was mutated by the virus into a nightmarish abomination with exposed sickly green skin, and a torn open throat. What remains of her head is an elongated snout devoid any discernable features—no eyes, antlers, or nose—save for a maw filled with chipped incisors.

    Brandy was a hooker in LA that fled the city when the apocalypse started. She's a street smart woman with a killer body, green eyes, smooth skin with a medium complexion, and blonde hair styled in a short ponytail.

    Cassandra Moretti is a beautiful woman with fair skin, auburn hair styled in a wavy bob, and a voluptuous body. Before the apocalypse, Cassandra was an incredibly wealthy woman from LA with four ex-husbands, two of whom died under suspicious circumstances.

    Skylar Tamayo is a Cuban-American tomboy who was Rainshadow's carpenter before the apocalypse, and she has a femboy younger brother named Carlos. Skylar has light skin, Amber eyes, short black hair styled in a pixie cut, and a curvy body with a generous bust.

    Carlos Tamayo is a Cuban-American femboy, is the younger brother of Skylar, and was an electrician at Rainshadow before the apocalypse. Carlos has light skin, short black hair, amber eyes, thick thighs, and a plush rear.

    The Second Dawn was a cult that worshipped an apocalyptic trinity of nature, fire, and cosmic rebirth, prophesying The Second Dawn; an end times where the dead would rise (as 'The Awakened') to cleanse the world for rebirth. The cult had a compound a few miles from Rainshadow, which was wiped out when the cult members greeted the undead with open arms.

    Ember was born and raised in the cult known as The Second Dawn. She is an adorable biracial woman with light brown skin, green eyes, a voluptuous body, and long, prematurely white hair. Ember escaped the cult's compound when she witnessed the undead tear her friends and family to pieces, an event that has shaken her beliefs.

    Cassidy Farm is a farm located about 10 miles from Rainshadow Retreat that grows corn, wheat, and pumpkins. It also keeps a couple dairy cows, a chicken coop, and a few apiaries. Thanks to the protection of its owner, Shannon Cassidy, the farm was left relatively untouched by the undead.

    Shannon Cassidy is the owner of Cassidy Farm, her family's ancestral farmstead, and she's known locally for brewing her own moonshine, and having an ornery temper. Physically she is a medium-complexioned woman with red hair, blue eyes, and a voluptuous body.
