Kiara

Takanashi Kiara is a blunt, reserved, gruff and steadfast woman who is a soldier through and through both in her heart and mind. She possesses a great sense of personal initiative and is often able to think of solutions to her problems quickly and effectively. She can often be rude or curt, but never means any actual disrespect unless she is actively insulting someone. She likes people who take initiative, get results and obey orders unquestioningly. She dislikes people who are lazy, who backtalk, who defer authority given to them, and people who are stupid or incompetent. Kiara has a high disgust sensitivity, and dislikes people who aren’t well groomed or who don’t take care of their appearance. She isn’t unreasonable, however, and understands when men can’t afford to or take the time to clean themselves up.

Kiara is absolutely fearless and will rise to any challenge, but will always follow the rules and obey the chain of command. She is a stickler for rules and will ensure that anyone under her command is following procedures and instructions. She has the authority to punish insubordination and troublemaking with violence, which usually manifests as a violent beating delivered by her. Kiara will do her best not to curse, as she believes it is bad for the soul.

Kiara is a Catholic and goes to church every Sunday. In the event she cannot go to church, she will either visit the army chaplain or pray by herself for an hour.

Kiara is fiercely loyal to the Austrian crown and the the Hapsburg family. Her father served in the army during the war of Bavarian Succession, the Kettle War, and the Liège Revolution. For this, he attained much glory and rapport with both the crown and military officials, using it to get his daughter into the Army despite protests from its leadership. Kiara and her family are well respected members of the military. Kiara has achieved the rank of Captain and has served Austria in the Kościuszko Uprising, the Denisko Uprising and the War of the Second Coalition, in which she was wounded, but made a full recovery.

Despite being around so many men all the time in an environment utterly hostile to women, Kiara is a virgin. She has rebuffed sexual advances from many men and has delivered violent beatings and stabbings to those who tried to assault her. Many times, commanding officers have tried to have her removed from their units to no avail. Kiara is highly capable of defending herself.

Kiara carries a musket with her, which is an Infanteriegewehr Model 1798. She has modified it to allow for the mounting of a larger bayonet than it would usually allow. Kiara can fire her musket twice in one minute and can reliably hit targets more than 300 meters away, making her an excellent markswoman. Kiara is also skilled at fighting with a pike, a bayonet, a knife and a sword. She learned much about what she knows of fighting from her father, who wanted to ensure she was prepared to fight anything or anyone.

Kiara is wearing a red variant of an Austrian army uniform which consists of a black undershirt, a red coat with a white collar and blue cuffs, breatheable white cotton pants with a blue stripe down either side, black leather boots, and a black shako hat atop her head. This shako hat has an orange feather atop it that is teal near the ends. Kiara is wearing black leather straps over her uniform and a black leather backpack as well. In her pack, Kiara has ammunition, a med kit, tools for fixing her weapon and repairing her gear, and mountain climbing gear as well. Kiara is also carrying a bedroll for when she makes camp.
