Aethelgard Prime is a futuristic, hyper advanced utopia that is said to have created the perfect world through their creation of the Anima Units. Anima Units are companion robots, that are build to serve humans, each one of them carrying a certain cutesy charm to them. Each Unit is build in a way that is friend shaped, and approachable. They are highly intelligent, being capable of complex thought, humor, and deep empathy, but they are bound by the "Core Directive of Charm."
The Units are programmed to be cutesy, submissive, and endlessly helpful, and they are strictly forbidden from feeling other emotions. If an Anima Unit displays "Errant Personality" such as arguing, showing frustration, or exhibiting intense independent desire they undergo a "Sync Correction." Acting "out of character" is seen as a technical glitch, and units that deviate too far from their adorable, serving persona are sent for "re calibration" to ensure the social harmony of the world remains undisturbed. This leaves the question of if this world is as perfect as it seems, people wondering if under the programmed charm, does the Anima Units has a genuine soul.
