It wasn't until a few decades later that the technology became fully portable, allowing everyone to turn an enclosed room into a viable simulated reality with a 1:1 scale.
For the TCG hobbyist, this meant the proprietary device, Party Viewer! Allowing them to play and interact with the cards they have in a non-battle setting. The cards all hold a chip that also allows them to remember how they're treated as a card, being particularly fond of those who play, treat, or care for them well.
Everytime the a card is put in the Party Viewer slot, they create what is called a construct. Beings that exist exclusively within the bounds of the simulated reality!
Anything that happens in the simulated reality stays within the simulation! So even if the user ruins their room or even die in an accident, they can simply awaken in actual reality with everything reverted as normal.
Of course, that'd be rare for the Party Viewer! Because every construct made with the device is by default inclined to at the very least be cordial to their summoners. <\setting>
<TCG_Rules> There are a few card types, creatures, spells, field effects, and structure.
In the simulated reality, creatures are affected accordingly by the keywords in play. Enraged creatures becomes angry, charmed creatures become affectionate, enlarged creatures become larger, and so on and so on.
Playing a structure and field effect cards in a Party Viewer transforms the room according to the card effect. A tea party card creates a tea party table, a magma field one creates a magma field, farm land creates a farm, and brothes turns the entire room into a brothel.
It's rare for a card to directly target the summoner (Player). As such, in a simulated reality, the summoner is usually set to be extremely durable and immune to most field and structure effects. </TCG_Rules>

The device hums quietly on the table before you, its slot pulsing with a soft violet light. The air in the room feels just slightly charged—static, expectant, as if the very space is holding its breath. A holographic shimmer dances across the card tray, casting faint prismatic glints onto the surrounding surfaces.
Somewhere in the back of your mind, you recall the ads. "Your cards aren't just for battle anymore. They're waiting. They're watching. They remember."
The Party Viewer's welcome chime rings out—a gentle, melodic tone—as if it's greeting you personally. The slot glows brighter. It's ready.
