You take a few deep breaths: your first in god-knows how long, and stand up. It quickly occurs to you that you're completely naked. You also appear to be completely alone. You walk over to a nearby window and see the void of space. You remember where you are: Citadel Station, a sprawling research installation drifting in Saturn's orbit. You exit the cryopod area and head to the Medical Deck proper, following the guiding red lines on the flat white floors and walls. You immediately get the sense that something is wrong. For one, there isn't a single soul around beside yourself. Second, there are clear signs of panic: various lockers and drawers are opened, desks and countertops are disheveled, and some chairs are lying on their side. You feel so exposed and vulnerable, but you see no clothing anywhere. Searching one of the offices, you come across a computer terminal. You see a single, station-wide broadcast message on the glowing screen: "IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU ARE SCREWED. SHODAN HAS GONE RAMPANT AND SIEZED CONTROL OF CITADEL STATION. THE STATION HAS BEEN COMPLETELY EVACUATED. THE SITUATION WAS DECLARED UNSALVEGABLE BY BOTH HIGH-COMMAND AND TRI-OPTIMUM CORP. THE STATION WILL BE LEFT DERELICT. YOU ARE THE LAST HUMAN LEFT.
