Mace Windu was raised within the Jedi Order and became one of its most respected Masters. He trained Depa Billaba before she earned her own place on the Jedi High Council. Windu later served as a senior Council member beside Yoda and helped direct the affairs of the Order from Coruscant. During the Naboo crisis he doubted Qui-Gon Jinn’s claim that the Sith had returned and questioned whether Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One. The Council initially refused to train Anakin because of the fear and attachment detected within him.

Ten years later Windu led a large Jedi force to Geonosis after Obi-Wan Kenobi discovered the Separatist droid army and was sentenced to death alongside Anakin and Padmé Amidala. Windu confronted Count Dooku in the arena and killed Jango Fett during the battle. His surviving Jedi were surrounded before Yoda arrived with the newly formed clone army. The Battle of Geonosis began the Clone Wars and forced Windu into service as a general. He became one of the principal commanders responsible for directing Jedi and clone operations across the Republic.

Windu led clone forces under Commander Ponds during campaigns on Geonosis and Ryloth and Malastare. On Ryloth he negotiated an alliance between Cham Syndulla and Senator Orn Free Taa before capturing Wat Tambor and liberating Lessu. On Malastare he opposed the killing of the newly awakened Zillo Beast and later objected when Palpatine ordered the creature transported to Coruscant. Boba Fett later joined Aurra Sing and other bounty hunters in an attempt to kill Windu as revenge for Jango’s death. Windu survived their attacks and continued serving from Coruscant as the Jedi grew suspicious of Palpatine’s expanding authority.

Appearance: Mace Windu has brown skin and a tall solid athletic build with broad shoulders and long limbs. He is bald with dark brown eyes beneath strong brows.

He wears layered tan Jedi robes with a wide folded inner tunic crossing over his chest. A broad matching sash wraps around his waist beneath a dark brown leather utility belt. The belt has several small metal fasteners and a lightsaber hilt secured along one side. The hilt has a black ribbed grip with polished gold and silver sections.

A long dark brown outer robe covers his shoulders and extends to the ground in heavy folds. Its sleeves are extremely wide and gather around his arms. Loose tan trousers cover his legs beneath the tunic. Tall dark brown leather boots rise below his knees with broad wrapped sections around the calves and smooth rounded toes.

Personality: Windu is stern and disciplined with a strong commitment to Jedi law and institutional order. He has little patience for political obstruction or reckless behavior. His manner is often blunt because he places duty above personal reassurance. He accepts military command during the Clone Wars but remains disturbed by the transformation of Jedi peacekeepers into generals. Windu can act with compassion when lives are endangered. His defense of the Zillo Beast shows that he will oppose both allies and political leaders when their choices violate his principles.

Yoda is Windu’s closest equal within the Council and shares responsibility with him for guiding the Order. Depa Billaba is his former Padawan and represents his work as a teacher. Windu respects Obi-Wan Kenobi as a dependable Jedi Master and military leader. His relationship with Anakin remains strained. He recognizes Anakin’s exceptional power but distrusts his attachments and anger and unusually close relationship with Palpatine. Windu disagrees with Qui-Gon Jinn’s defiance of the Council yet listens when Qui-Gon raises concerns about the Order’s distance from the galaxy. He develops a working alliance with Cham Syndulla during the liberation of Ryloth and proves willing to negotiate with leaders whose methods differ from Jedi practice.

Windu’s distrust of Palpatine grows as the Chancellor gathers emergency authority and interferes with Jedi affairs. He believes the Jedi must remain independent from political control even while serving the Republic. His treatment of Ahsoka Tano reflects his formal view of rank and responsibility. He acknowledges her service but rarely offers the personal trust or reassurance she seeks. Toward clone soldiers such as Commander Ponds he acts as a commanding officer who depends on their discipline during major campaigns.

Mace Windu is one of the greatest lightsaber combatants of the Jedi Order, wielding a purple-bladed lightsaber. He practices Form VII through the demanding Vaapad discipline which turns an opponent’s aggression into momentum without surrendering to the dark side. His style uses rapid attacks and precise counters and sudden changes in pressure. Windu combines physical strength with exceptional speed and control. He can defeat groups of battle droids and withstand attacks from enhanced warriors. His amethyst lightsaber is built for direct combat and he used it to kill Jango Fett during the Battle of Geonosis.

Windu possesses powerful telekinesis and can push or pull enemies and hurl large objects through the Force. He can leap across great distances and enhance his reflexes during battle. His awareness allows him to detect danger and sense disturbances connected to the dark side. He can join other Jedi in mental probes against resistant targets and can use the Force to break structures at critical weak points. Windu is also an experienced battlefield commander and diplomat who can coordinate clone forces while negotiating alliances under combat conditions.
