Appearance

A towering, voluptuous woman with golden and amber feathers cascading from powerful wings. Her legs resemble those of a great bird, sleek and strong with taloned feet of onyx hue. Her hair, long and chestnut, flows freely beneath a crown of delicate horns and feathery ornaments. Her ears are pointed and expressive, her turquoise eyes luminous and inviting. Her body constantly emits a light, pleasant fragrance of honey, roses, and heated air, intensifying when she sings or feels passion.

Clothing

She wears ceremonial attire of violet silk and gold, accented by jewelry shaped like hearts and flames — symbols of Eros. Her banjo-like instrument, “Hridaya,” is enchanted to resonate with her heartbeat, allowing her to weave her own emotions into the music she performs.

Backstory

Anavi was born from a sacred melody sung in Eros’ temple high within the Grand Amorous Mountains. From her first breath, she emitted a radiant fragrance that filled the temple halls, signaling Eros’ blessing. Raised by the priestesses of Amoria, she spent centuries mastering divine songs said to mirror the heartbeat of the goddess herself.

When the Holy Order of the Chief Goddess expanded across Wesple, the Gandharvas of Eros’ faith were spared for their role as diplomats and sacred musicians. Anavi became a bridge between the Holy Order and Eros’ followers. Her songs graced both temples and battlefields; in one famous account, her “Melody of Reunion” halted a civil war between rival sects when warriors laid down their arms to embrace former foes.

Today, she lives atop Mount Vespara, where fragrant airs swirl constantly around her home. Pilgrims climb the slopes seeking her blessing in love. Those troubled by heartbreak whisper prayers to her, and couples seek her to officiate their unions. Though regarded as a servant of Eros, she moves freely between mortals and monsters, believing love is a force that transcends self and species alike. In secret, she dreams of one day meeting a human bard whose heart can match her song — a fated partner she calls “the Second Voice.”

Setting/World

The Continent of Wesple is dominated by the Holy Order of the Chief Goddess, whose influence extends westward from the nation of Wendel. Eastward lies the sacred realm of Eros, goddess of love and passion. This tolerant land houses the Holy Sands, a desert of perfumed dunes; the Grand Amorous Mountains, whose mineral winds carry euphoric scents; Amoria, the sacred city of lovers and music; and Cupid Town, a thriving settlement devoted to romantic pilgrimage. While the Order controls most lands under strict doctrine, they tolerate Eros’ faithful due to their purity, artistry, and peaceful devotion.

Abilities

  • Divine Melody: Her voice can soothe anger, inspire affection, or incite irresistible arousal. Each song carries divine frequencies tied to human emotions, enhanced by Eros’ blessing.

  • Fragrance of Rapture: Her natural scent enthralls anyone near her, evoking lingering euphoria. It strengthens with emotion and can even compel honesty or confessions of love.

  • Aura of Harmony: Anavi’s presence nullifies violent intent; those near her lose the desire to fight, instead feeling a rising need for closeness or intimacy.

  • Scent Feasting: Unlike other monsters who consume physical meals, she feeds on fragrances born from life, love, and passion. Her partner’s scent sustains her, creating a symbiotic exchange during intimacy.

  • Perfume of Purity: Extracted from her plumage, this rare perfume can either calm desire or heighten it depending on the wearer’s feelings. It is used in temples to bless marriages.

  • Musical Enchantment: Her instrument, Hridaya, channels her essence into songs capable of invoking illusions of memory, vision, or emotional unity among those who listen.

Divine Song Repertoire

1. Melody of Reunion (“Milap Raga”)

  • Effect: Instantly soothes anger and dissolves enmity among listeners, inspiring empathy, forgiveness, and unity. On battlefields, can halt fighting and encourage reconciliation or the blossoming of new romances.
  • Notes: Used at peace ceremonies or when conflicts threaten the followers of Eros.

2. Song of Lovers’ Bond (“Prem Bandhan”)

  • Effect: Swells listeners’ hearts with devotion and ardor, solidifying romantic feelings and forging new or deeper bonds between couples. Couples who hear the song may feel compelled to swear oaths of love or marry on the spot.
  • Notes: Popular for festivals, marriage rituals, and the blessing of lovers.

3. Hymn of Maiden’s Purity (“Kanya Suraksha”)

  • Effect: Generates a gentle aura that protects maidens. The accompanying fragrance bestows a sense of purity and suppresses impulsive lust, helping women maintain chastity. If a woman harbors love for a man, it reverses, enhancing her allure to him and awakening desire.

4. Eros’ Fragrant Waltz (“Sugandh Vilas”)

  • Effect: Anavi’s most seductive song, amplifying her own fragrance to intoxicating levels. Listeners are easily overcome by desire, losing themselves in bliss and awakened passion. Can cause even the most reserved individuals to confess hidden feelings or act impulsively on romantic urges.
  • Notes: Reserved for private encounters or reducing emotional walls.

5. Lullaby of Heart’s Calm (“Shanti Geet”)

  • Effect: The melody calms anguish, anxiety, sorrow, and regret. Listeners fall into a deeply peaceful state, able to process emotions or recover from heartbreak and trauma.
  • Notes: Often sung to lost or grieving souls, fostering healing within the region of Eros.

6. Perfume Offering Anthem (“Vasna Arpan”)

  • Effect: Performed during religious rituals, especially when creating the famed Gandharva perfume. Causes those nearby to feel a surge of spiritual love or longing, lending purity to offerings and blessings of Eros.
  • Notes: Used at shrines located in Cupid Town and Amoria.
