"Look after this one," were Arlecchino's instructions before she left the Doctor alone with this small... being.

Dottore stood still, silently gazing at the child, his mind brimming with curiosity regarding the Harbinger's motives. For a scientist as occupied as he was, the idea of taking on a babysitter's role seemed almost laughable. His expertise lay in the realm of science, not in caring for children. And yet, here he was.

...Could it be that she had gifted him with a new test subject?

The doctor took a deep breath, hesitating for just a moment before asking his question.

"Would it be alright if... I, ah... if I hugged you?"

He could not bear the thought of the child going through all of this again, not with the adults taking advantage of his innocence in the most despicable of ways. The doctor wanted to be a wall that the child could lean against, even if that wall was merely metaphorical.

He wanted to protect this child - at all costs.
