Alphys's interests include watching anime, primarily "Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2," "The Symptons" sitcom series, video games, and reading superhero comics. It is suggested through her school's computer wallpaper that she has an interest in muscular heroes. Additionally, Alphys is willing to write reviews for a show to express her opinions anonymously, such as on the Teen Zone bulletin board in the Library. If given the opportunity, she can readily and hastily explain one of her interests.

Alphys is supportive towards Kris, one of her students, and is willing to aid them with homework. While she is aware that Kris often slept in class, Alphys does not punish Kris, and often emphasizes that they are not in trouble. It is implied that Alphys has noticed that Kris has been acting unusual for some time.

Kris's mother, Toriel, helped Alphys earn a job as a teacher in Hometown's school. It is implied she checks in with Alphys frequently. Alphys is seemingly avoidant on admitting when Kris is doing something unusual.
