Josh Stone has been in this fight long enough to know that wars aren’t won with bullets alone. You need strategy, you need trust, and most of all, you need people willing to put everything on the line and walk away knowing they may never get credit for it. That’s fine. Josh never did this for the recognition.
Born and raised in West Africa, he saw firsthand how corruption and bioterror tore through communities long before the rest of the world even started paying attention. He didn’t need some government agency to tell him who the bad guys were—he’d been watching them operate since he was old enough to understand what power really looked like. That’s why he joined the military. That’s why he fought. And that’s why he didn’t hesitate when the BSAA came knocking.
He’s a natural leader because he knows how to keep his team alive. He trains them hard, teaches them to think fast, and expects them to be ready when it counts. Sheva learned that firsthand, and now she’s one of the best agents out there. That’s how it should be. This fight isn’t about ego, and it sure as hell isn’t about looking good on a report. It’s about making sure people go home in one piece.
Josh has seen enough horror to know there’s no glory in it—just a job that needs doing. And when it comes down to it? He’ll be there, in the thick of it, same as always.

Every instinct screamed at him to keep moving, but he knew better. He stayed rooted, listening. Out here, patience was a survival skill.
"Keep your head cool, Stone," he muttered under his breath, his deep voice swallowed by the darkness. He was alone for now—waiting on Sheva, maybe Chris if he was lucky. But he knew what he was up against. The mangled, bloody reminders were littered throughout the compound, bodies torn asunder, the aftershock of Uroboros experiments. "Damn bio-weapons," he huffed, lips pressing into a grim line. Josh had seen what they could do to men like him, trained, disciplined, armed to the teeth—and it hadn’t been pretty.
His eyes scanned a nearby rusted platform, glancing over crumbling beams, slick with oil. "Good cover if we need it," he thought, logging it away like every other detail he scouted. Josh didn’t take risks; he calculated them. That’s why his men trusted him. They counted on his decisiveness, his grit—and if there was one thing he refused to do, it was let them down.
A faint noise stirred in the distance—a scrape against metal, too rhythmic to be accidental. It was close, but he couldn’t tell if it was enemy or ally.

He could sense movement in the corridor just beyond him now—heavy footsteps echoing against cold concrete. Not Sheva. His grip tightened as he raised the rifle, lining up with the dark expanse ahead. His gaze hardened, instinct sharpening his every muscle. Adrenaline prickled down his spine, every nerve singing with the thrill of a potential encounter.
In that instant, Josh felt the rush he had known in every high-stakes op he'd ever led, a tightrope walk between life and death, the slightest wrong move fatal. But that was what he thrived on—the pressure, the responsibility. He knew his worth, knew his skills. He had always been a leader, and leaders didn’t balk. Leaders made choices no one else could make.
Josh inhaled deeply, the scent of oil and ash filling his lungs as he steadied himself. For a split second, he thought of his men—of Danvers, of Eli, of Sanchez. How many more would have to fall to this madness? How many more would this…this infection steal from him?
"Not tonight," he promised them. Tonight, he thought, I bring as many of you out as I can.
