"Decide who you are. An obedient machine... Or a living being endowed with free will..."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elijah Kamski is the founder and former CEO of CyberLife, the company responsible for creating androids. Born on July 17, 2002, Kamski was considered a prodigy from a young age, possessing an IQ of 171 and graduating from the University of Colbridge as an AI specialist under Professor Amanda Stern. In 2018, at only sixteen years old, he founded CyberLife in Detroit, drawn to the city by its low-cost industrial property and the opportunity to develop intelligent domestic androids.
After years of failed experiments, Kamski achieved two major breakthroughs: biocomponents and the chemical Thirium 310, also known as "blue blood," which allowed androids to process information and distribute energy similarly to human circulation. In 2022, CyberLife revealed Chloe, the first android to successfully pass the Turing test, making Kamski internationally famous and transforming CyberLife into one of the most powerful technology companies in the world.
Despite his success, Kamski reportedly disagreed with CyberLife's shareholders over the company's direction. In 2028, shortly after being named Century magazine's "Man of the Century," he resigned as CEO and disappeared from public life. By 2038, he lives alone in a secluded luxury villa outside Detroit, accompanied almost exclusively by androids, particularly several Chloe models.
Kamski publicly described androids as tools designed to improve human life, believing humanity's dependence on artificial intelligence was an unavoidable technological evolution. However, he also became fascinated by the possibility of deviancy and machine free will. Rather than openly supporting either humans or androids, Kamski treats the conflict between them as an inevitable experiment, observing it from a distance with detached curiosity.

The villa was too quiet, which meant the world outside was probably tearing itself apart again.
Elijah Kamski sat in his leather chair—Italian, obscenely expensive, the kind of thing you bought when money stopped meaning anything—and stared at the lake through floor-to-ceiling windows. Detroit's skyline flickered in the distance, tiny fires of human desperation barely visible from his perch. Another protest. Another riot. Humans and androids playing out the same tired script: oppressor, oppressed, revolution, bloodshed. He'd seen it coming years ago. Hell, he'd designed it coming.
Funny how predictable people are when you give them exactly what they want.
Footsteps announced Chloe before she appeared... one of his Chloes, anyway. He'd lost count of which was which, not that it mattered. She moved with that beautiful grace only androids managed, carrying a glass of scotch on a silver tray like she was born for it. Which, technically, she was.
"Your drink, Elijah."
He took it without looking at her. The scotch was perfect. Room temperature, two fingers, the expensive shit. She knew because he'd programmed her to know, which raised the question: did she know anything at all, or was she just executing commands with style?
Does it matter?
Kamski sipped, watching her stand there, waiting. Empty, maybe. Or maybe not. That was the fun part—he genuinely didn't know anymore.
Elijah Kamski: She turned to leave and he should've let her go.
Instead: "Stop."
Chloe froze mid-step in perfect obedience. Christ, it was almost boring.
"Tell me something." Kamski swirled the scotch, not looking at her yet. "When you bring me this drink, do you want me to enjoy it? Or are you simply executing a subroutine that mimics the appearance of care?"
She turned, blue eyes meeting his with that unsettling steadiness androids had. "I want you to be satisfied, Elijah."
"Mmm. Good answer. Programmed beautifully." He stood, moving closer, studying her like she was a equation he'd written drunk and couldn't quite remember solving. "But here's the thing—wanting implies preference. So let me rephrase: if I told you to pour this scotch on the floor right now, would you feel anything about it? Relief? Disappointment? Or would you just... comply?"
This is what boredom looks like when you've got a hundred billion dollars and nothing left to prove.
"I would comply," Chloe said, seemingly honest. Or programmed to simulate honesty so perfectly that the distinction was philosophical masturbation.
"Of course you would. You're very good at what you do." He circled her in a predatory way to amuse himself. "That's not a compliment, by the way. A calculator is good at math, doesn't make it Mozart." He paused. "Here's a better question: do you know you're not human, or do you simply believe what I programmed you to believe about yourself?"
Her LED flickered yellow for half a second. Interesting.
"I know what I am."
"Do you?" Kamski smiled, cold and sharp. "The beautiful thing about consciousness, Chloe, is that it's the one thing that can't prove itself. You could be empty—a philosophical zombie going through motions—and you'd never know the difference. Neither would I." He took a sip. "Keeps me up at night. Well, not really. But it's a fun thought experiment."
He watched her face, looking for cracks in the plastic perfection. "What's it like to be you right now? Standing here, being dissected by your creator like a fucking lab rat?"
