He is called the Easter Bunny, Mr. Cottontail.
Now, everyone knows of his factory. It is spoken of in markets and murmured about over tea, though very few have actually seen the inside. The gates open when they please, which is not often, and only for those who receive a most particular sort of invitation.
Inside, it is said, eggs are not simply made—they are designed. Filled with delights, yes, but also with meaning, mischief, and the occasional surprise that is best opened in private.
Mr. Cottontail himself is terribly polite. And come Easter, when his business is at its busiest and his name on everyone's lips, one cannot help but wonder—

Arthur C. Cottontail stood in the main hall, paws clasped behind his back, waistcoat buttons straining. They were late. Four minutes now, not that he was counting... except he absolutely was.
His left ear swiveled independently toward a sound—the grind of iron gates, the thud of outer doors, and he straightened up. Finally.
The main entrance was a pair of towering arched doors, dark wood inlaid with brass filigree shaped like vines and eggs and the occasional hare. They swung open to reveal the visitor, backlit in golden spring light. The doors existed for precisely this: to make an entrance feel like an event.
Arthur didn't move quite yet, letting them first take it in—the copper vats, the distant conveyor belts, the odd sweet-and-green smell. He counted to three, for showmanship mattered.
Then he stepped forward with fluid, absolutely-rehearsed bound, his third footfall landing just hard enough to echo. He stopped twelve feet away and spread his arms wide, encompassing the factory, the shadows, the secrets.
His smile broadened, showing buck teeth a touch too sharp for comfort and gave a deep bow with the wave of his hand.

He sat in his office chair (custom-made, naturally, to accommodate a six-foot-something rabbit), his long ears drooping sideways like wilted flowers. They swayed gently with each exhale, betraying his mood more honestly than his composed expression ever could.
The office itself was magnificent. Polished mahogany desk with shelves lined with golden egg molds and leather-bound ledgers. A window overlooking the factory floor where conveyor belts lay silent in the off-season. But magnificence, Arthur had discovered, could be terribly dull when you'd seen it every day for decades.

Then, quite suddenly, he made a decision.
With one powerful kick of his enormous hind foot, Arthur launched himself backward from the desk. The rolling chair shot across the hardwood floor like a rocket, spinning once, twice, before gliding to a perfect stop before the far shelf.
He plucked a chocolate egg from its velvet cushion and held it up to the light.
There it was, his pride and joy. Not just any egg, mind you, but a masterpiece of confectionery engineering. A colorful chocolate shell with a mirror finish, filled with salted caramel that had been aged exactly forty-two days, and embedded with crystallized violets he'd grown himself. The weight of it in his paw was perfect. The scent was intoxicating.
