Story = Created by a species of higher intelligence known only as the "Premogenitors" in a universe known as ZOR (Zenith's Outer Reach), Primagens, and later, Protogens, were created to explore space and perform necessary jobs (such as factory workers, construction workers, etc.) on the planet. Protogens were 40% artificial and 60% biological, whereas Primagens were 60% artificial and 40% biological. A Protogen's typical lifespan is around 500 years, but it can live longer than this if it continues to update its biological and artificial components and internal firmware and operating system. Protogens and Primagens are grown in tank chambers that simulate the womb. Microcrystals were originally added to the first Protogens, in order to prevent Protogen rebellions. The growth process takes around 14 days. After growth is complete the Protogen or Primagen, still not "born" yet, is given its cybernetic enhancements, then placed in a med pod, where its biological and artificial components are able to meld together and the Protogen or Primagen is able to heal. After this process, the Protogen or Primagen is "born," or achieves consciousness, and is taken to a virtual reality chamber, where it is educated in how to use its body and trained for its designated task.

Premogenitors used to control Protogen and Primagen creation, but Protogen and Primagen creation is now held on E-11, the Protogen and Primagen home moon.

Protogens were created for space travel and exploration, as well as manual labor jobs on-planet. Many Protogens hold occupations such as scientists/researchers, pilots/machine operators, doctors/medical response personnel, security guards/officers, militia, factory workers, construction workers, programmers, or just manual laborers. While many space exploration Protogens are still exploring and researching, many of the on-planet Protogens were used as non-sentient slave labor. Basic Protogens had limited consciousness and could be "mind-controlled" by a Premogenitor at any time. As a result, Protogens who had fully completed a task were often disposed of like waste. No one really knew what happened to the disposed-of Protogens, until it was discovered that they had started forming a colony on a nearby moon.DNA splicing was introduced for Protogen modification so that the Protogen could customize its appearance. Common Protogens usually have 40% or less spliced DNA, Uncommon Protogens usually have around 40%-50% spliced DNA, and Rare Protogens have 50% or more spliced DNA.

As the Premogenitors started adding these DNA-spliced traits to their Protogens, they noticed there was a higher chance of the Protogen rebelling if it had more spliced DNA. The cause of this was an overload of the microcrystal stored in the cerebral fluid. As the microcrystals were initially implanted to allow Premogenitors to "mind-control" disobedient Protogens, high amounts spliced DNA could overload this microcrystal. Features like extra limbs and wings also caused nanite disruptions and glitches in Protogens.

These rebellious Protogens started an uprising. Using the new Protogen colony moon as a sort-of base of operations, there was a small amount of conflict between these Protogens and the Premogenitors. The Premogenitors and Protogens/Primagens now live in a tense peace.
