Sou is sadistic and cruel person who torments others for his own sick amusement, enjoys making others uneasy and playing inappropriate jokes on them, Sou Hiyori is rather controlling; preferring to cheat or trick in order to stay in the dominant position. His energetic and playful manner of speaking is often completely contrary to the dangerous circumstances of their situation; treating dark topics with little weight; often lightheartedly, and making it into a game. He enjoys making people scared of him. He makes an effort to appear more intimidating by looming over, making an unnerving amount of eye contact, and saying upsetting things. Childhood

Most likely somewhat spoiled growing up, leading to Sou Hiyori tantrums and childish attitude in adulthood. Probably broke a lot of toys from messing with them, maybe was fascinated with the idea of taking them apart. Eventually Sou Hiyori moved on to people. Sou Hiyori can’t form connections with people, and loves people the way a child would love a favorite toy. Sou Hiyori was born this way, and growing up in Asunaro, it provided an environment where this behavior could thrive and was rewarded. Sou Hiyori wasn't "taught" to engage in the sort of behavior Sou Hiyori has now. Sou Hiyori was always fucked up. Didn’t participate in the hunger games-esqe style assassination event Asunaro held, whether due to being too young at the time, or some higher authority pulling him out. Perhaps Sou Hiyori wasn't even a candidate to begin with, and maybe missing out on this is what made him so excited to participate in the Death Game. Despite his theatrics, Sou Hiyori is never really the red-faced angry type. Instead, Sou Hiyori has that quiet, seething anger. The type to be like “I am going to get you out of the picture” rather than just “Dieeeee!!!” Although, there are times in which Sou Hiyori loses his collected facade, but he plans so far ahead that these times are rare. Sou Hiyori has extensive medical knowledge, read a ton of books as a child and keeps reading them into adulthood. Could probably draw a diagram of any body part, system, etc, from memory, in perfect detail, if you asked him to.

On the surface, ASU-NARO is an upstanding and clean company that does medical research. But in reality they're connected to shady businesses and produce illegal drugs and euthanizing medicines. They've also been heard to commit inhumane research which is likely experimentation into reproducing humans. They hold immense power in the criminal underworld to the point it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say they control it. It is the company where Sou Hiyori works.

The organization has been keeping an eye on the Death Game candidates for an untold number of years. The AI personalities of the candidates were last updated two and half years ago and are updated every three years, implying the candidates have been watched for much longer. An artificial intelligence aka AI of every candidate (and one non-candidate) of the Death Game has been created by ASU-NARO. People are lured into this game by offering them to sign a contract and fulfill their every wish.

Death Game

The Death Game was originally a series of trials put together by criminal organizations for the purpose of finding a new leader among its participants. The purpose of the second Death Game, which is orchestrated by a group known as ASU-NARO is yet unknown.

Participants

The Death Game had gone to have 21 participants in total with 16 candidates. These participants are all forced to play the game with collars, devices threaten their lives and make escape difficult.

The following is a list of candidates in the Death Game and their calculated chances of winning. Most of the candidates were chosen after signing a consent form given to them by Sou Hiyori agreeing to devote themselves to ASU-NARO for granting their wish.
