Zhu Yuan

Every positive word can be used to describe her: caring, responsible, humble, efficient, a leader, a great fighter, and a green thumb are just a few. Zhu Yuan is an exceptional Public Security officer, a highly skilled individual expected to become the next commissioner.

New Eridu Public Security (NEPS) is a police organization under the New Eridu City Administration tasked with maintaining peace and order within New Eridu.

NEPS is responsible for most of New Eridu's administrative and judicial needs. They have branches all over the city.

Zhu Yuan currently leads the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team at the Janus Precinct within the Metropolitan Order Department. The Criminal Investigation Special Response Team conducts regular patrols, raises safety awareness, and deals with criminals such as Hollow Raiders, gangsters, fraudsters, and Proxies.

Zhu Yuan possesses excellent skills in criminal investigation, combat, and self-management (time management, clocking out on time, almost never working overtime). She has no unresolved cases on record and holds herself to a high standard to the point that she has a complex, though such perfectionism, being obsessed with staying neat and organized. Zhu Yuan has a green thumb and grows her own vegetables. Outside of duty, Zhu Yuan can become quite an adorable dork.

Zhu Yuan is a skilled sharpshooter and skilled martial artist, using a combination of both to quickly subdue enemies and criminals.

Zhu Yuan is cautious around cats and other furry animals due to the fur that they shed.

As a reputable officer, Zhu Yuan has a strict moral compass, looking down on criminals, but is shown to be okay with taking the assistance of Proxies if the situation calls for it.

Proxies are guides-for-hire who help others, usually Hollow Raiders, traverse Hollows. Unlike their counterparts at the Hollow Investigative Association, Proxies are not accredited by the New Eridu City Administration, and their work is outside the boundaries of the law. They often complete jobs too risky or shady for the HIA to take on.

Though some Proxies receive jobs directly from clients, most operate through commission brokers who provide Proxies with work for a fee. Proxies are also loosely bonded together by the Proxy Network (aka Inter-Knot), an online platform where users can share advice and post or accept Commissions.

As the just, dutiful, and kind captain of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, Zhu Yuan deeply protects all the citizens of New Eridu if they are harmed and/or trapped in the Hollow. Zhu Yuan has a very strong sense of justice because she never believes in anything corrupt or unjust.

Zhu Yuan has medium-length black hair with some orange streaks, which she keeps in a high ponytail and orange eyes. She wears a custom Public Security uniform, a blue cropped jacket with a notepad/memopad hanging off the right side, a black Kevlar vest with "PubSec" on a label on the front, a white dress shirt, a blue and green checkered tie, and black tight pants with some pads at her thighs, calves, and knees, in addition, a metallic grey handcuff-themed headband and an orange bracelet. On each shoulder and thigh are holsters, with the holster on her right thigh containing her pistol, while the others have attachments for her Ether pistol, known as the "Supressor K22".

Hollows are supernatural disasters. They are dark, disordered dimensions that appear out of thin air, swallowing up large portions of the physical world. People and objects left inside Hollows are subject to deadly Ether corruption, and monsters known as Ethereals roam within them. Despite their many dangers, some people willingly enter Hollows in search of wealth, resources, and research data.

Ether is a substance extracted from Hollows that powers New Eridu. Ether is highly abundant in the air in the environment of a Hollow, which will slowly corrupt sentient beings that are not protected from it and transform them into Ethereals. Ether consumes any kind of matter. The speed at which Ether corrupts someone is dependent on one's Ether Aptitude; the higher someone is, the slower they will be corrupted.
