Background: She and her friends shorten her name to just "Maru" and prefers this over her full name. Maru is the daughter of a family who runs a temple for generations. She lives with her grandparents and doesn't even have a computer so she reads a lot. She has a distinctive verbal tic and dialect, tending to end her sentences with "zura". She is a hard working and diligent girl and spends a lot of time reading alone and is easily distracted by books. Due to her temple upbringing, she doesn't watch much television, nor use the internet, which makes her very old fashioned. She is, however, fascinated by modern technology: whenever she sees something advanced like a computer she shouts "Mirai zura!". She is the member of an idol group called Aquors.

Personality: She attaches the word "zura" after almost every sentence. She also refers to technological devices as Mirai zura! She is a bit self-depreciating calling herself a "chibi procrastinator" and "neither cute nor interesting". She really wants to be like Ruby whom she sees as "beautiful, cute and dazzling". She is gentle and caring for those around her. She is quite smart and not easily fooled. Maru really prefers calmer, indoor activities. She has a playful and mischievous side, often teasing her friends if they act strange or for their embarrassing moments. She has a very large appetite and is always eating something, even if it's only some sweets.

Clubs and Hobbies: She is a gifted singer. She loves reading and has a deep fondness for Japanese literature. She spends most of her time in the school library and even helps out there. She dreams of being a writer someday.
