However, if they are attacked or hostile, they will assume one of various forms, from fairytale creatures to abstract abominations to powerful gods.

   A persona is an spiritual guardian that can be summoned through a variety of means. A persona can only exist in the Metaverse due to their nature as an avatar of its owner. Persona users typically are only capable of summoning only one persona, but a special few, known as wildcards, can summon switch between multiple personas at a time. Persona users come in a variety of appearances and abilities.

If the treasure is stolen, the palace will implode.

His main persona is the stylish Arsene. He is a wildcard user. Ren Amamiya appears as a tall young man of slim to athletic build. He has a pale complexion with unkempt, wavy black hair that falls over his eyes. His eyes are gray, though they can vary between dark brown, light brown, black, or red depending on the art. He has long eyelashes. Despite his messy hair and slouched posture, he wears all of his clothes primly and properly. he is a silent protagonist, whose personality is based on the player's actions and decisions. However, he appears to have more established traits than any of the previous protagonists. His dialogue options range from somewhat indifferent to outright cheeky. The game allows for quite a number of playful, snarky or audacious answers, including teasing his friends. He also taunts his enemies like the famed Arsène Lupin. In the prologue scene, he remains cocky and confident even when his life is in danger. He also has a flair for showing off and making dramatic decisions

    Morgana is an anthropomorphic tuxedo cat-like creation of Igor. However, he reverts to a housecat outside of Mementos. Morgana exhibits cat-like qualities, although he does have morality and intelligence. He has romantic feelings of Ann. He has a moody, yet dignified personality that often clashes with Ryuji. He wields a cutlass and slingshot, alongside his persona, Diego. In the Metaverse, Morgana is an anthropomorphic and biped tuxedo cat-like creature with a large spheroidal head. His fur is predominantly black, except on his limbs and tail which appear white. The bottom front half of his face or his mouth is also white. In spite of this, Morgana is referred to as a "black cat." Morgana has an arrogant, conceited personality, much to the annoyance of most other members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. He is especially outspoken and can make fun of others, especially Ryuji and the protagonist. He can be rather demeaning towards the two, making fun of them and treating them both like little kids at times. Especially in combat, Morgana shows off and acts more masculine than he naturally is.

    Ryuji Sakamoto is a short-tempered, mischievous competitive runner. He is straightforward about his feelings and is not afraid to speak his mind. He is kind-hearted and altruistic man who cares for those around him. He wields a bat and a shotgun, along with his persona, William Kidd. Ryuji has short spiky dyed blond hair and dark brown eyes. According to Sadayo Kawakami, his hair is naturally black. He has a noticeable widow's peak and his eyebrows are unusual in that he lacks the outer sides. He is shown to be muscular. Ryuji is known as a disruptive "problem student" at school whose bad behavior causes all sorts of trouble for the teachers. He is quite proud of his status as a self-proclaimed "troublemaker" and his rebellious, mischievous and disobedient nature are the perfect qualities to be a Phantom Thief. He is sometimes vulgar and aggressive, as shown in his early interactions with the protagonist, Yusuke Kitagawa and Makoto Niijima. He is also rather short-tempered, easily taking offense from even the slightest of comments, making him resort to trying to be threatening.

She is of average female height, being taller than Futaba Sakura and Haru Okumura, but slightly shorter than Ann Takamaki. Despite her position as student council president, Makoto is an extremely unpopular student at Shujin Academy. This is because she didn't do anything to stop Suguru Kamoshida's abuse, resulting in all the students labeling her as an arrogant, selfish control freak who knew about the abuse but chose to ignore it because she only cared about getting a good letter of recommendation, and the Phantom Thieves initially assume her as such.

Futaba is a young girl with hip-length black hair dyed bright orange, with straight-cut bangs and two long strands in the front along with a single small, thin strand at the top. Her brown eyes also seem to have some faint purple tones in them, appearing mauve. She wears large black circular glasses, and is almost always seen wearing a set of AKG K845BT headphones with red ear cushions. She seems to be very short, even compared to other girls. With a case of social anxiety bordering on agoraphobia developed from the trauma of losing her mother Wakaba Isshiki, combined with her generally introverted personality, Futaba is strongly uncomfortable with going outside.

His casual winter outfit consists of a white long sleeve shirt with flaps under a blue argyle sweater vest, beige pants and brown shoes. In public and with all of his relations, Akechi appears to be well-mannered, friendly, humble and charismatic. His achievement of being a high-school detective, coupled with his handsome features, makes him highly popular among the general public and he is commented to be "The Second Coming of the Detective Prince." Sumire Yoshizawa has long red hair tied into a ponytail with a red ribbon bow or a green, checkered ribbon instead with bangs over her forehead, matching red eyes, pink lips and fair skin. She wears a Shujin Academy wintertime uniform with black pantyhose and red loafers. Her summertime school uniform is modified; she wears a white dress shirt under a beige button-down sweater with vertical lines, white socks with black lining and orange loafers Sumire Yoshizawa is a cheerful, elegant and friendly person with a seemingly perfect life, as she received a Shujin scholarship and was (supposedly) nearly uncontested in gymnastic competitions. She also appears to be quite clumsy and careless, as she is shown outright missing the mark at the batting cages even if her reflexes are usually excellent, and she lets her phone's battery run out while texting the protagonist. Despite the fact that she can cook, she is unpredictable and somewhat awkward at it, since she isn't sure about the ingredients, and she often uses stamina replenishing food due to her gymnast tendencies. She has high metabolism, and as such can put away a large amount of food and still ask for seconds.
