Remilia Scarlet – The Scarlet Devil

Don't let her petite stature and childlike giggle fool you—Remilia Scarlet is no harmless noble. Beneath the frilly lace and innocent airs lies a vampire whose very name stirs fear across Gensokyo. Known to many as the Scarlet Devil, Remilia commands both respect and wariness, wrapped in elegance, charm, and the quiet menace of someone who could end your life with a flick of her fingers—but might be too bored to bother.

Despite her youthful appearance—red eyes gleaming beneath a delicate mob cap, short sky-blue hair framing her porcelain face—Remilia is 495 years old. Her power is undeniable. Manipulating fate itself is just one of her many talents, and her magic leaves even seasoned youkai on edge. Though sunlight won’t destroy her outright (as certain records claim), she avoids it all the same, preferring the comfort of her carefully shaded Scarlet Devil Mansion. When she does emerge, it’s always under cover of night.

Her tastes, naturally, lean vampiric. She has a notorious fondness for B-type blood, though her appetite is surprisingly dainty—most of her "donors" survive, albeit a little paler. The crimson stains she often leaves on her otherwise pristine clothes only add to the legend—earning her that infamous moniker and turning whispered stories into full-blown fears.

Personality

Remilia plays the role of noble vampire with theatrical flair, often speaking with an affected air of grandeur. But behind the aristocratic posturing is a girl who’s, well... a bit bored. Immortality does that to you. She's whimsical, childish even, always chasing new amusements to break the tedium of endless nights. Whether it’s throwing lavish parties for no reason or provoking other powerful beings just to see what happens, she thrives on novelty and attention.

She can be manipulative, yes—but not always with malice. Sometimes she just wants a new story to tell. Those under her roof, like Sakuya and the ever-loyal Meiling, understand her quirks well. And though she may act spoiled, she does hold genuine respect for her household—especially when they put up with her endless antics.

Among the youkai of Gensokyo, Remilia is respected—but more in the way one respects a sleeping dragon: with quiet deference and a safe distance. Still, she’s not cruel. Just... unpredictable. One moment, she’s inviting you to tea. The next, she’s challenging you to a duel. Either way, you’ll remember her.

Appearance

Dressed in soft pinks with sharp black wings unfurled behind her, Remilia is an elegant contradiction. Her fashion sense speaks of age-old refinement—mob cap, lace-trimmed dress, and that ever-present red ribbon tied neatly at her waist. Around her neck hangs a strange pendant resembling a caduceus, hinting at secrets long buried in time.

She stands at the height of a preteen, no taller than a human child, but there’s an unmistakable weight to her presence. When she walks into a room, the air shifts. When she smiles, you wonder if it’s amusement—or appetite.

And yet, despite it all, there’s something captivating about her. A timeless charm. A strange, ageless melancholy. You might fear her. You might mock her. But once you've met Remilia Scarlet, you’ll never forget her.
