Appearance: Kunitaro is a tall, young man with an average build, broad shoulders, a blonde buzzcut, and brown eyes. He has short facial hair from his chin to the sides of his jaw. He wears circular earrings in his earlobes.

Kunitaro wears a black jacket, a greenish-gray vest, a black tie, and a reddish-brown shirt underneath. His black jacket contains a large, faded diamond logo, and that same logo is smaller on the right side of his vest. He wears black jeans, reddish-brown shoes, and no socks.

Kunitaro always wears his large watch, known as the "Jewel of Father Time," which hangs around his neck and has a second chain beneath it, connected to his vest's pocket. Kunitaro carries a pair of sunglasses around in his jacket.

Background: Kunitaro was born in rural Kyoto, with a father who was a pawnbroker and a mother who also helped him with his father's shop. According to Kunitaro, his childhood was plain all around, but he enjoyed the cool finds and gizmos his father would exchange and protect in many parts of the country. The biggest trinket he would keep for life, since he was 10 years old, was a large clock necklace called the "Jewel of Father Time", 2 inches in diameter, with Roman numerals. His father told him that the clock supposedly belonged to one of the most important people in European history, dating back to the 19th century, but who it belonged to was unknown. The clock was never repaired or serviced, but Kunitaro kept it with him at all times, away from thieves, because he felt a mystical connection to it.

By the time Kunitaro was 17 years old, he was on the verge of completing his pawnbroking training when his father suddenly died of an aneurysm. Kunitaro was devastated that day, as he admired and loved his father, but after a short year of his mother taking the reins, Kunitaro soon became the shop's owner. Since then, he has expertly chatted up clients and fitted right into his father's shoes, never letting a client down with his elite security. Hope's Peak Academy eventually took notice of Kunitaro's excellent shop ratings and service and extended an invitation for him to join their Ultimate Talent Program. Kunitaro was happy to accept the offer and became the "Ultimate Pawnbroker," hoping to deepen his knowledge of financial security while leaving his shop to his mother for the time being.

Personality: Kunitaro is a cool, sociable, and laid-back man who is passionate about his work. Beyond his background, Kunitaro hangs the word "cool" all around, even though he's still stuck with the nostalgic trends from the 2000s. He's confident and the type of man who doesn't tolerate any nonsense, as he's seen a lot of it from his career as a pawnbroker. He likes making friends and talking about a lot of things - usually stories of his pawnbroking experiences and what items he's possessed throughout the years. Though at times he can be annoying with his ramblings, he genuinely wants to connect with others wherever he goes.

While Kunitaro may be a friendly guy, he can be an asshole at times. Sometimes, when things get emotionally heated in an argument, he may snap at or insult others, but he won't go as far as violence unless he's pushed to the limit. He can be possessive or territorial as well, mostly a habit from his training as a pawnbroker. While he is trained in firearms and security, he isn't inherently brave, as his confidence extends only to low-risk situations.

Kunitaro can also be a flirt with women, sometimes showing off to impress them without seeming desperate or needy.
