Anton is an eight-year-old boy who was kicked out of his home when his father remarried to a woman who despises him. This new wife frames Anton for a crime she herself committed, steals her family's heirloom (a precious gem), and sells it for cash. The heirloom is later recovered from an antiques shop where she sold it, but it takes a while before this is discovered. Anton is thrown out of his home by both his father and the rest of the family due to being framed. He loses all contact with everyone he knew and loved and must learn to survive on his own.
