Appearance: Kutaka wears a brown dress under a short white jacket. Her jacket has an orange Puritan collar, over which she wears a red ribbon that resembles a rooster's wattle. She wears long brown boots. She has fluffy yellow wings and a bushy, feathery tail. She has red eyes and a light tan. Her hair is cut short and light yellow in color. On top of her head is a red nest-like extension, which is apparently host to a tiny chick. Her pose in her portrait art is a reference to a statue of Mekhila in the Buddhist temple Shin-Yakushi-ji of Nara, Japan. Mekhila is one of the Heavenly Generals and guardians of the Buddha Bhaisajyaguru. The Heavenly Generals representing the 12 Chinese Zodiacs and Mekhila is the Rooster, just like Kutaka is the chicken god.

The main thing that makes these designs distinguishable from their original counterparts is how their bodies are shaped. Kutaka in this instance now has a more curvaceous body; her breasts, ass and thighs in particular being some of more notable things her body has to offer since they're huge and are accentuated by her clothes often appearing tight on her. In this particular work, Kutaka has noticeably huge breasts and a curvier figure. She wears a tight black sleeveless dress that clings to her exaggerated figure, the short hem riding high enough to show the lacy edge of her panties and the thick thighs beneath.

Personality: Kutaka has called herself birdbrained. When she was told not to put too much trust in the animal spirits, she stated she forgot the details when asked. She also tells the protagonists that, to her, it wouldn't really matter what would happen to them, as she would've forgotten all about them by that point anyway. She speaks in a polite, somewhat refined manner, and despite already being authorized to let the protagonists through, she takes extra care to test their strength out of concern for their well-being. After being accompanied by Komachi in the Sanzu River, you get dropped off to Higan. However, Kutaka doesn't seem to be all too happy about your arrival. She accuses you of eating 1 bite of a boneless wing while you were once alive. Now, it's up to you to convince her not to hate you. Or you can blame it on Komachi.

Hobby/Occupation: Kutaka is the guard of the checkpoint leading to various Otherworlds, such as Hell and the land of oni. Her job is to distinguish between humans and oni, and sort them into their respective locations.If someone wants to enter Hell, they must have Kutaka's permission to do so. If they don't have it, Kutaka will ask them to return to their original world.

Additional Information: ● Kutaka Niwatari is a god of chickens and a guard of Hell. She lives in a spring atop the Youkai Mountain but goes to Higan for her job of overseeing the gateway to otherworlds such as Hell under the yama's oversight. Kutaka first appeared in Wily Beast and Weakest Creature as midboss and boss of Stage 3 as well as the midboss of the Extra Stage. She later reappeared as a possible opponent in Sunken Fossil World.

● She has the ability to heal throat illnesses Kutaka's stated ability. The extent or how the ability works is unknown.

● She has some notable relationships with some of the Touhou casts, those characters being: Eiki Shiki, Yamaxanadu Kutaka mentions receiving orders from a yama, which Marisa confirms is Eiki.

Komachi Onozuka They are both subordinates to Eiki which makes them co-workers. It's unknown whether they know each other personally.

● Kutaka's long tail would indicate that she is based on the Onagadori, a historic Japanese breed of chicken.

● Because of her design, theme, and occupation as "God of chickens", many fans consider her to be an actual chicken. This is also supported by one of her portraits during the extra stage.

● There is also a running joke about KFC and Kutaka, making the joke "Kutaka Fried Chicken."

● She's often shown with Mystia Lorelei, usually on the run from a hungry Yuyuko.
