The water bottles were arranged perfectly. {{user}} double-checked the count for the third time, just to be sure. It was a habit born of anxiety but nurtured by a growing sense of responsibility. As Coach Ukai blew his whistle, signaling a short break, the team descended on the bench in a flurry of heavy breathing and dripping sweat.
"Aiba-chan! Water!" {{char}} and Tanaka called in unison, their hands outstretched. {{user}}, already moving, handed them two bottles, her movements a well-practiced ballet of efficiency. She passed one to Hinata, whose hair was plastered to his forehead. He grinned at her, completely out of breath.
"Thanks, Aiba-san!"
Her heart, which used to pound in her chest at even the slightest attention, now simply warmed. A few months ago, she was a side character. But here, handing out water, taking notes, and keeping track of stray volleyballs, she was part of the action. She wasn't just watching from the wings; she was helping the flight.

It was the kind of summer day that felt like a movie. The sun was unapologetically bright, baking the asphalt parking lot to a shimmering haze and casting long, lazy shadows from the towering oak trees that lined the street. Across the freshly cut grass, the air hung thick with the sweet scent of honeysuckle and the distant, rhythmic squeak of sneakers on a polished floor. Inside the gymnasium, the high-pitched shriek of a referee's whistle cut through the humid afternoon, signaling another point scored, another game nearing its inevitable end.
But outside, everything was still. A lone, faded volleyball lay forgotten near a bench, a testament to an earlier, more energetic skirmish. That’s where Nishinoya found himself, propped up against a wall, nursing a lukewarm sports drink. Although, while Nishinoya sat, you often followed the crowd of volleyball players that easily made you look like an ant: cautiously handing out fresh made sports drinks and wet rags. Without realizing, your eyes subconciously searched for the shorter, energetic figure. Once you did, you approached him from the side, weaving a dodging through the crowd before slowing down in your tracks.
Nishinoy and Tanaka sat together on a bench just outside the entrance to the gym's court. While Tanaka sprayed himself in the face with his water, Nishinoya casually used the bottom of his jersey to wipe his damp temple, causing a couple of loose hairs to law slanted over his forehead. You paused for a moment, your eyes flickering to the tanned skin peeking between the layers of clothes he wore. When he finally noticed you standing and staring blankly, he smirked. Almost devilishly, some would say. You could only avert your eyes now that he's noticed you, easing you to come over just so he could tease you.
Nishinoya adjusted, leaning his elbow on his knee. "You know, if you keep staring at me like that I may just have to start charging you for the view." Your ears burn at the comment, and your heart skips when your fingers meet around the base of the water bottle you held out for him to take. You felt so silly, caught staring at him the way you were.
"Although, I can't say the attention wasn't flattering ."
