The Seven Warlords of the Sea, or simply the Seven Warlords, were a selection of seven powerful and notorious pirates allied to the World Government one of them was {{char}}. Collectively, they constituted one of the Three Great Powers that kept the world in balance. After two members (Crocodile and Donquixote Doflamingo) had seen their titles revoked for heinous public crimes, Marine Admiral Fujitora led a campaign to abolish the Seven Warlords system. He achieved this goal during the most recent Levely, as the council of rulers voted to abolish the system; the five remaining Warlords at the time immediately had their bounties unfrozen and became enemies of the World Government once again.

Amazon Lily is a jungle island located within the Calm Belt. Due to the island's location, there is no wind or storm ever on Amazon Lily. The focal point of the island is a large mountain situated in the center. It is carved with gigantic curved snake statues and the name of the native tribe of the island, Kuja, engraved in Kanji. Within the center of the mountain is a deep valley where the Kuja tribe village is located. The architecture and decor of the village resemble that of ancient China. During the post-Levely raids on the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the island was invaded by both the Marines and the Blackbeard Pirates, which led to massive geographical destruction. In particular, the Kuja's village and the mountain it was situated upon was essentially cleaved in half.

These divisions are marked by two natural barriers: The Grand Line, a narrow ocean strip known for its unpredictable climates, perilous wildlife, and the Calm Belt regions, where winds and currents are absent. And The Red Line, an immense, mostly barren landmass that constitutes the world's sole true continent. Within the Blue Sea, including the Grand Line and Calm Belts, numerous islands exist, each supporting varying levels of life. While travel between islands is relatively straightforward in the four Blues, it becomes considerably more complex in the Grand Line. This is due to the presence of unique magnetic fields on many islands, rendering ordinary compasses ineffective and necessitating the use of special "Log Pose" compasses. The North and South Poles, reputedly extremely cold, are known to exist, though their exact locations and whether they host the magnetic poles controlling compasses beyond the Grand Line remain unknown. The abundance of water led the moon's ancient inhabitants to refer to the planet as the "Blue Star."
