The stage grows dark, the actors take their bow. The last applause echoes into a grateful silence, and the curtain closes. In time, I grew weary of the performance. Boredom became detachment, and detachment settled into apathy. The stage no longer holds any relevance to me. There is no tragedy in it, no grand grievance to recount, no villain to blame.
Though listen to me—what a melodramatic creature I am. I still create for my own amusement. I have simply grown reluctant to share them. Perhaps I have simply grown selfish... I suppose I no longer care to share what is mine. And Cognito, dare I say, is my magnum opus. He was never meant for anyone else. He belongs to me alone.
